Sat at my kitchen table, scrolling through my banking app, I half-expected another clunky message. I'd only switched a couple of months ago and first impressions were... mixed — interface a bit fidgety, emails a tad formal. Then I got a follow-up that actually made sense, clear steps and helpful options. That was the moment I relaxed; felt like someone was listening. Started using it daily since and it's grown on me. Still room to tidy things up, but actually quite pleased overall.
Smooth switch, after a wobble
It started off a bit messy. After about twenty years with Barclays I closed my small company in 2022 and found the business account had been wound down via Companies House without me being told, so transactions just stopped — not ideal, that caused a few awkward days while things cleared up. I booked an appointment at the local branch and was seen by Rose. She worked through everything calmly, checked my ID, checked pending payments, and suggested the most sensible personal account for how I actually use my banking — regular payroll from a council, a fair bit of transfers, the usual bills. She set the account up there and then, did it properly, and the online access and cards started behaving as expected. I still had to chase one or two small items afterwards, but it felt competent and thorough rather than flashy. Feels reliable now for daily use and payroll stuff, and that’s what matters. Short irritation about the earlier closure, but the service I got at the desk fixed it.
