I got to the event thinking it would be full on, but halfway through I was annoyed. They'd pulled a few big obstacles days beforehand, so what was advertised wasn't what turned up. One "burn" was waist‑high and felt like a muddy walk for 20 metres rather than anything testing. The tyre carry was embarrassing, just a circle in a field. The £26 optional pro photos felt like money down the drain — only about five obstacles had a photographer. Oddly, one of the few shots they did get was actually good, which surprised me. Overall it came across understaffed and poorly organised, not like other events I've done before.
Nearly chaotic, mostly handled
I got there mid-event because a mate on Instagram kept saying I should watch the West London run, and honestly I’m glad I went. Parts were definitely packed — big queues where the 5K and 15K met and groups stood around for ages — but the stewards kept calm, redirected people and generally sorted things on the spot. Customer service afterwards was solid too; they sent out an explanatory email about the hold-ups and replied politely when I asked about spectator access. Tickets aren’t the cheapest (£15 for spectators, runners from about £85), so I get the grumbles, but the practical stuff — signposting, first aid, info points — was delivered as promised. I did feel anxious for a while watching the delays, but the team coped with a tricky day. All in all I’d go again, just expect a bit of queuing.
Pretty decent for a team day out
Honestly, loved it more than I expected — it did the job for our team day and we walked away smiling. We went as a group of about 30 colleagues because we needed a proper break from piles of work and my lower back has been grumbling, so I wanted something active but not brutal. The course wasn’t the mud-fest some of us imagined — actually fine by me, I didn’t need to shower afterwards — but that’s because it wasn’t very tough. There were dull bits and some long queues (one took about 40 minutes) which was annoying, but it became a chance to gossip and laugh, so I’m not sweating it. A few things were glitchy — the electric obstacle wasn’t live and some water butts were empty, which was poor on a hot day, and staff were a bit grumpy about us grabbing full bottles. Still, we bonded, had a laugh, and I’m glad we did it. Could do with better pacing and hydration, but would go again with these mates.
Mud, mates and that proper finish-line grin
I first clocked this event on a poster stuck to the noticeboard at my climbing wall, and a mate nagged me to sign up — glad he did, honestly. The bit that made me know it was worth it? Halfway up the final obstacle my legs were wobbling, the crowd were whooping, and for a split second I just grinned and thought, “this is why we bothered.” We’d camped nearby (bit chilly, but that's part of it), swapped war stories by a tiny stove afterwards and I even recommended it to another mate who’s already booked for next year. There were a couple of queues and the loos weren’t luxurious, but that didn’t spoil the buzz. The marshals kept spirits up, music was loud enough, and the route had enough nasty bits to feel earned. Left muddy, tired and annoyingly pleased with myself — will absolutely do it again.
Felt a bit downhill, then it clicked
a shared bit of stupid fun. It tipped scepticism into proper satisfaction.
Muddy admin, not muddy boots
I was half making a cup of tea and half dreaming about laps when I tried to book a pit crew pitch. Simple idea, right? Click the yellow square, get a spot, job done. Nope. The yellow kept teasing me. Kept. Teasing. I tried for days, on trains, on lunch breaks, late at night — same result. The site looked like it was saying “go ahead” but the checkout button never appeared. Felt a bit like trying to grab a bar of soap in the shower; slippery and annoying.
I emailed the race director, sent screenshots, explained I’m paying good money and need to park a tent where my mates can hand me a warm drink. Reply came back basically saying “if you can’t check out it’s taken,” and “it’s a Ticketsocket error.” Erm, thanks, but you just told me what I was telling you. Made me worry I might end up with nothing on race day, tents scattered, crew faffing about. Not what you want before a 24-hour slog.
I’m genuinely excited to be racing. I love the mud, the lantern-lit laps, the quiet hours when you keep moving just to stay sane. But sort your site and help people when the thing you sell is the thing that doesn’t work. We’re all paying a lot, and a bit of human help would go a long way.Sunburnt, stuck and still not impressed
00 and didn’t cross the line until about 16:00 because of the queues at each obstacle — mainly the repeat wall sections that just slowed everyone down. Bigger obstacles to spread people out or much smaller start groups would’ve made a huge difference. I’m glad I went and there were moments I enjoyed, but overall not what I imagined for the money. At least I got a tan from all the waiting.
completed tough muddy course with work friends
Myself and my eight workmates completed a super fun and challenging obstacle course last weekend! It was absolutely fantastic! The course was really cool and the staff were also great. Thanks to Adam, we got the best package which included sorting out parking, bag drop, and even some delicious treats for us. I enjoyed every single moment and would definitely recommend it to everyone. Huge shoutout to Adam and the crew for making it such an awesome day!
Refund Denied
It's just ridiculous that I can't even get a refund, even though they said in their Covid update that they would honour refunds with a delay. The automated responses turning down refund requests without even reading them are so frustrating.
Group booking for Tough Mudder
Ed Thompson was really quick and made booking for my group really easy. I'm already looking forward to the next event!
Tough Mudder event
I will never support this company again. I've been a loyal fan for years, always taking part in their events. So, you can imagine my surprise when I asked to defer my entry due to an injury and was met with such poor customer service. Not only did they say I needed to pay an admin fee, but I was also asked to cover the price difference for the next event, which was double, as I had purchased my friend's entry too. This meant I ended up forking out almost another £100 just to defer. It's really disheartening to see a company treat their loyal customers like this. On top of that, the last event I went to had huge queues for the obstacles, leaving us waiting in the freezing cold for ages. It definitely put a dampener on what should have been a fun day out.
Tough Mudder experience
So, I headed down to this obstacle course event and it was actually quite cool. Some obstacles were enjoyable and made me think, but there were definitely some downsides too. Let me tell you about the Arctic challenge, oh my days, it stank horrendously! I swear, there might have been genuine poo in there and it was revolting. On top of that, it was freezing cold and they barely had any water stations. Also, there wasn't a way to freshen up afterwards. To add to it all, it was pretty pricey.
Tough challenge with colleagues
Wow, Tough Mudder was absolutely amazing! It was such a great day out with my mates and workmates. The challenge was really tough but totally worth it. Everyone was so supportive and cheered each other on. It really motivated me to give it my best and push myself to the max. Can't wait to do it all over again next year!
10k Tough Mudder event
Hey, just wanted to share that my team and I smashed the 10k Tough Mudder event in South London. It was intense but so much fun getting through those obstacles together. Massive thanks to Ed Thompson for setting us up with the corporate event package. Legend!
Tough Mudder ticket
This company is absolutely dreadful. They changed the venue and date of the race twice, and now they're changing it again due to Covid-19, without offering refunds. It's ridiculous, they never give money back, it's a complete scam.
Event entry
I had a really frustrating experience with this event I bought tickets for. They sold tickets for me and my partner, but then changed the dates to ones that don't suit us. At first, they said we could get a refund, but later on they said we couldn't because we paid early. I felt tricked and ripped off by their sneaky business tactics. Because of this, I won't be attending any more events by this company or their parent company. I'll also be telling others to stay away to avoid the same problems.
Ticket purchase
I tried to get my ticket back after I accidentally deleted it, but couldn't reach anyone for days. It was really frustrating to miss out on the event and my £100 ticket. But then I finally got my ticket back just in time. The event itself was amazing, and I'm already excited for the next one!
Tough Mudder Tickets
It was absolutely amazing! We managed to get our tickets really quickly and easily. The obstacles were incredibly challenging and we had such a great time! The mud mile was awesome, and we even braved the electrocutions. The staff were so friendly and helped us with whatever we needed. The food and beer after the race were fantastic. I'm already looking forward to next year!
Manchester 2021 event
So, we signed up for this event, yeah? But then it got cancelled because of this virus thing (ugh). They didn't even bother telling us, we had to find out the hard way. When I asked for a refund, their customer service team was really rude and said no refunds allowed. And then they signed us up for another event that we can't even go to. What a joke, seriously!
Corporate team booking
This was our second time booking a corporate team event at Tough Mudder, and the sales team were really helpful once again. We had to make a few changes to our booking, like swapping our team leader, start time, number of participants, and race distance. Every time we asked for a change, they sorted it out quickly and with a smile, no problems at all. Thanks to them, everything went smoothly. We're looking forward to our upcoming event and can't wait for a great Sunday morning!
