So I signed up for insurance online and thought, job done — nope. Trying to get it cancelled turned into a mini-saga. They insisted on a handwritten paper form (yes, actual handwriting), wouldn’t accept an online cancel, and it took four emails before they even posted the thing. Customer service was slow and a bit awkward, but in the end they processed it and I’m oddly relieved it didn’t get worse. If you use them, keep copies of everything and be ready to chase. Bit of a faff, but lesson learned — and at least it finished without drama.
Confusing sign‑up, slow refund
I was rushing to sort travel cover for a work trip and clicked a search result that looked right. It redirected me to a different site. I paid expecting a tidy policy pack, but the email I got was odd — strange characters, third‑party footers and not what I’d expect from an insurer. I cancelled the same day. The worst bit was being told refunds take 15–45 days. That’s a long time when you’re juggling flight costs. I was sceptical and annoyed. After a follow‑up it got sorted and the money returned in about three weeks, so in the end I’m satisfied, though I’ll be more careful next time.
A bit messy at first, but sorted in the end
I was checking this cover before a short trip — wanted to be sure theft was included. I used the chat on their site and at first it all felt odd. The rep’s profile said Elizabeth but the person typed as Harry. He told me theft was covered. I read the policy myself, scrolling through the PDF, and only saw wording about "standard loss of baggage" so I asked again. A different chat agent (also named Harry, which made me raise an eyebrow) then said I’d been given the wrong info and that theft isn’t covered. That’s the moment I was properly sceptical. The chat felt a bit clunky and the profile pics didn’t match, so trust was shaky. I didn’t leave it there though — I asked for a supervisor and they explained the distinction clearly, pointing me to the exact clause and an example. Once that was clarified, I felt better about what I’d bought and how to use it (file claims, what counts as loss vs theft, that sort of thing). Not perfect, and don’t expect smooth sailing on first contact, but in the end the clarification helped and I could plan my trip with less worry.
