really pleased — these lot got us out of a proper bind, and I’ll say that up front. We run a small hospitality place and had a couple of late cancellations during the summer rush; Workers Direct found decent, sensible people at short notice who actually turned up, clocked on and did the job, which already felt like a miracle. They listened to what we needed, matched us to people who knew their way around a busy shift, and didn’t throw random applicants at us. The booking itself was straightforward, yes, a few calls back and forth — that’s normal — and the follow-up was solid. Compared to another agency I used before (who shall remain nameless), this was much less faff and less drama. The temps slotted in, asked sensible questions, and didn’t need hand-holding all the time. Prices were fair; not the cheapest but good value for what we got. If you want reliable short‑term staff without endless headaches, this is the place I’d call again. Little things could be smoother, but overall I’m genuinely happy with how it worked out. They were punctual, polite and didn’t panic when things got hectic — honestly that’s half the battle, right? I'll be using them again.
A bit of a mess, to be honest
when someone finally replied it wasn’t exactly helpful or consistent, more like different people saying different things. Delivery of paperwork was slow or non-existent — that’s the bit that annoyed me most, because it’s basic admin that should be sorted without having to nag. On the flip side, a friend recommended another agency that actually helped them and gave clear advice from the off, so it’s not all doom and gloom.
If I’m honest, I did appreciate the roles they offered and the pay was fair for the shifts, but the way they dealt with post-employment stuff let them down. A tip for anyone younger or new to agency work: read up on your rights, keep copies of everything, and don’t be afraid to walk if the admin side is chaotic. I hope they get their act together and start treating people properly — and I hope I get my outstanding P45 sorted without more faff. Just be careful and double-check before committing.
