instead of a code I got login details for a throwaway account with a daft name and a nonsense birthdate. Classic facepalm. I tried to shrug it off, thinking I could just redeem or transfer it, but nope — it was tied to that bogus profile, so my proper Xbox account (which I’ve had forever) couldn’t use it. Cue a lot of swearing under my breath.
Moment of relief
they'd just confirmed the refund was being processed and I could almost stop worrying. I first contacted them after spotting a charge I didn't expect, one dreary Tuesday morning, and the initial reply was blunt and useful — no messing, just clear next steps. First impression was that someone actually understood the mess. There were a couple of back-and-forth messages, fine, and they kept me updated without making it dramatic. The surprise was how quickly the money actually showed up; I hadn't expected it so soon. What made the difference was their steady, patient approach and the fact they treated the case like it mattered. Felt in control again by the end, simple as that, and properly satisfied.
Dodgy "codes", dodgier follow-up
full logins, mail access, 2FA codes and a little note saying “take over account”. That bit felt wrong immediately (and yes, my Spidey-sense was buzzing). I didn’t touch anything. I didn’t log in. I left it exactly as found and filed a complaint. Predictably irritating bit: seller and site later accused me of changing stuff. They even sent screenshots that contradicted themselves — time stamps that made no sense — and Kinguin just sided with the seller anyway. They kept asking me to log into those accounts and “restore” passwords, which is exactly what I refused because hello, that’s the whole problem — account takeover risk and possible permanent bans from Sony. Felt like being pushed into doing what I thought was dodgy from the start. I’m all for risky bargains but not when it could wipe years of trophies and purchases. So yes, annoyed, a bit bemused, and done with buying account-based products there. If a friend asks, I’ll tell them the story and suggest steering well clear.
Map, tech and a bit of patience
it took a bit longer than I hoped and it wasn't cheap, but they actually delivered tangible results. If you're going to try this, be organised with your records — it helps. Worth it, overall.
Activation failed, long wait
The key simply failed at activation. I bought a BF6 key and the platform said it was already redeemed. Tried the usual checks. Contacted the seller first. Help was minimal. Then I sent screenshots to the marketplace and waited. They asked me to wait for the seller's reply. Two days later there was still nothing. It ate up time and left me stuck without the game. I filed a complaint with the Belgian trade authority, which felt extreme but seemed the only route. Not ideal. If you're buying digital keys, I'd stick to a recognised store. Might just be bad luck, but I wouldn't risk it again.
Late-night purchase regret
opaque titles and no clear refund path. On the plus side one key I bought actually worked instantly, which was a nice surprise and stopped the evening being a total loss. I use these keys for casual gaming and gifting friends, so reliability matters. Customer messaging was slow, sometimes non-existent, so don’t expect helpful responses. Prices can be tempting but you risk dodgy sellers. Honestly, I might go back sometimes for a bargain, but I’m a lot more cautious now, to be honest.
