That awkward 'hang on a sec' moment

instead of a code I got login details for a throwaway account with a daft name and a nonsense birthdate. Classic facepalm. I tried to shrug it off, thinking I could just redeem or transfer it, but nope — it was tied to that bogus profile, so my proper Xbox account (which I’ve had forever) couldn’t use it. Cue a lot of swearing under my breath.

    Dodgy "codes", dodgier follow-up

full logins, mail access, 2FA codes and a little note saying “take over account”. That bit felt wrong immediately (and yes, my Spidey-sense was buzzing). I didn’t touch anything. I didn’t log in. I left it exactly as found and filed a complaint. Predictably irritating bit: seller and site later accused me of changing stuff. They even sent screenshots that contradicted themselves — time stamps that made no sense — and Kinguin just sided with the seller anyway. They kept asking me to log into those accounts and “restore” passwords, which is exactly what I refused because hello, that’s the whole problem — account takeover risk and possible permanent bans from Sony. Felt like being pushed into doing what I thought was dodgy from the start. I’m all for risky bargains but not when it could wipe years of trophies and purchases. So yes, annoyed, a bit bemused, and done with buying account-based products there. If a friend asks, I’ll tell them the story and suggest steering well clear.
