it heats evenly, the flavours are proper, and the battery keeps going way longer than it has any right to. Cleaning is almost too easy — you think you'll put it off, but you actually do it. It feels solid, not plasticky, which makes me relax when I drop it in my bag. Tiny tip: carry a spare mouthpiece if you're picky about flavour. Emotionally, it's been a small joy; I'm oddly proud of it, and the software customisation is actually surprisingly useful too.
Properly impressed
the finish picks up marks if you’re rough with it, but that’s about it. Overall I’m pleased. It does what I wanted and it’s just straightforward to live with.
Quick, reliable support and steady performance
I bought the Solo III in March 2025 and, honestly, it’s been really solid — better flavour and I’m using less flower, simple as that. It’s not tiny but fairly portable for what it is, and cleaning/maintenance is straightforward, which I appreciate. The standout for me though was the support and delivery when the unit started showing an error code. I contacted customer service, they told me to send it in, their repair centre got it mid-September and I had a brand‑new replacement back within three days, plus some spare glass. That turnaround was surprisingly quick and well handled — clear communication all the way. If you’re worried about repairs, don’t be; keep a record of your order and they’ll sort it. Pretty grateful it went so smoothly.
That one rainy evening it clicked
at home while sorting emails, on walks, and on the odd commute when trains behave. I own a few models — the Air SE, Air Max, QX2 and my proper favourite, the Solo 3 V2 — and each has its place. The glass bits mean you’re not constantly touching hot metal, which sounds daft but matters when you’re clumsy like me. Accessories make it a bit of a hobby, too, not just a replacement for smoking. The real tipping point was when the Solo died on me; I sent it off and, unbelievably, they sent a replacement back in about a day via their US service centre. That moment — unpacking the new unit faster than my kettle boiled — made me feel smug, grateful and relieved all at once. Customer service was calm and quick; I wasn’t faffing for hours on hold. Would I buy again? Yes, quietly pleased I did, and it’s made quitting a lot less of a drama.
Not what I hoped for
it warmed up quick and felt solid in use, so my doubts eased and I thought “okay, maybe this is worth it”. Then I noticed the stem sitting oddly, leaning like one of those crooked towers — I mentioned it to support and they said it was normal, that it didn’t affect performance. I shrugged and carried on for a couple of months. Fast forward three months and it died with an “error 05” — totally dead. Frustrating. The misaligned heater clearly wasn’t harmless after all. Support were a bit blunt about fault being down to me and wanted me to pay postage to send it in, plus extra for repair. I’ve looked after devices for years (had an original Mighty that lasted a decade), so that stung. So yeah, started sceptical, briefly impressed, then back to annoyed. If you’re considering one because a friend recommended it, weigh up the risk — decent while it worked, but the fault and the shipping-for-repairs policy left a sour taste.
Rainy-day upgrade, solid service
arrived two days earlier than the estimate, nicely packed, tracking was honest, and when I pinged customer service about a missing mouthpiece they replied quickly and sent one out straightaway. The unit itself is a tidy upgrade from my old tower. It’s got the expected bits — whip, balloons, connectors, and the glass bowls — and the two-sided bowls are handy: one side for cleaner flavour, the other if you want denser clouds. It lights up while heating and beeps when ready, simple as that. Not flawless — one balloon had a tiny split and once it hesitated a bit getting up to temp — but nothing major. Overall it’s made a real difference to how I take my meds; quieter, less smell, and good support if something goes a bit off, and worth the money.
