I was mid-evening, scrolling my bank app when I noticed a string of unfamiliar transactions — not how I imagined this would go. I’d hesitated before buying because the site looked a bit shoddy and the price was lower than I expected. Still, I went ahead because I needed replacement filters for my coffee machine every week. The checkout said my card was declined so I tried another, then another, and later saw multiple charges posted. I phoned customer service, kept the call — partly because of other reviews — and they said refunds would follow. In the end I bought the filters from someone else and the new ones fit fine. I’m relieved my daily routine is back, but I’m still wary of using that seller again.

I’d been with the company for years and kept thinking, “this is useful,” but then the daily barrage started and it got out of hand. I tried to unsubscribe a few times, politely, and it didn’t stick — same addresses, same offers, same noise. So, minor drama, I built a filter. It works. No big fireworks, just quiet. That quiet is satisfying in a simple, grown-up way. It’s not that the product itself was rubbish; I’ve bought filters from other places and had worse ordering systems, so I wasn’t ready to write them off entirely. What I couldn’t tolerate was the feeling of not being able to stop the messages. When the rule finally caught everything, and my inbox stopped being cluttered every morning, that’s when I knew I’d sorted it out and could carry on buying elsewhere if needed. I did try to be fair — a couple of polite unsubscribe clicks, a message or two — but the silence that followed the filter’s activation was the decisive moment. Slightly chuffed, actually. If the company improves its opt-out process, I might consider returning; for now, though, the takeaway is: they have decent stock and delivery was fine in my experience, but their mailing list behaviour needs work. Other firms have handled this better, with quick, polite unsubscribes. Still, I’m glad I solved it myself and I’m back to normal. Small wins, yeah, and that’s the bit I wanted to share.
Half impressed, half annoyed
daily deals, the same promo over and over. That was my main doubt before I clicked buy. Still, I needed the filters and the price looked sensible, so I thought, sod it, I'll give them a go and keep an eye on the inbox.
