Very pleased, honestly. I bought it last month when the nights turned chilly. Delivery turned up on time and the driver texted twice, which I liked. Price was fair, not the cheapest but good value. I'll use them again, glad it worked out.
Spotted at a mate’s — pleasantly surprised
Saw it at a mate’s and he tipped me off; felt solid out of the box, easy to wheel into the garage (driver left it kerbside), arrived perfect — just check you’ve got a flat drive or decent access.
Quick, solid hob
Bought the hob midweek, got it two days later just as arranged. Fitted it myself; feels solid and heats up quickly, exactly what I need for weekday dinners. Delivery was punctual, packaging tidy and okay, no fuss.
Solid but slow
It surprised me how solid it feels and how quickly the room heats. Simple controls. I used it a few evenings and it's reliable so far. Staff helped with questions. Lead time was long — ordered in April, arrived 6 June, which annoyed me.
Saw it online
Spotted the stove on their website and that’s how I ordered. Victoria was really helpful, proper star. Delivery guy turned up on time and handled the heavy bits — bit of scuffing on a corner though, not ideal but good.
Mid-install verdict
heats fast, not perfect but solid.
Left on the verge
I started using the log burner last month. First impression was OK — it heats well. Jude at Direct Stoves was helpful. After that the delivery and dispatch fell apart. No clear warning it was a kerbside drop about 30 metres from the house. That annoyed me and customer service too.
Evening warmth
Halfway through the first evening I realised how much I’d needed it after my old stove packed up. The new unit feels solid, nice heat spread, controls simple though a bit fiddly to start. Came well packed, delivery messages were clear. Pretty relieved it arrived intact and works as expected.
Good quote, messy finish
great at quoting, rubbish at finishing. They sorted the quote quickly and I liked the salesperson — helpful — but the installer turned up with the wrong fire. The replacement took days, then they couldn't come back for three weeks, which stalled my DIY weekend and the cat hated the cold. Surprisingly the unit is lovely and warm, but final bill had an unexplained £300 extra.
Stove arrived as expected
a nut on a rear bolt was missing despite the check note. Not ideal, but not a dealbreaker. Quick tip: check fittings on arrival and adjust if needed.
Left on hold
I placed a bulk order a few months back and thought, fine, delays happen. First impression was okay — the site looked reasonable and the price wasn't bad — but then nothing arrived (most of it) and updates stopped. They kept promising “end of next month” for weeks, then another month, then another. It wasn't the supply issues that annoyed me so much as the silence and the lack of any proactive help; you had to chase them every time. When I finally asked for a refund they cut the discount they'd been offering (which felt petty). In the end I ordered elsewhere and had everything within days.
Quick buy, proper warm
Bought this Squirrel stove because our old log burner was tired and the living room felt draughty — needed an upgrade. The shop at Bromsgrove were brisk but friendly; paperwork sorted in about ten minutes and we were home. The stove sits low and chunky, warms up fast, simple to light and feels sturdy — only a tiny scuff on one side, nothing major. Delivery turned up exactly Wednesday as promised, felt reliable and I've recommended them.
Halfway through the first burn
a small part was missing on delivery. I called Direct Stoves and they sent a replacement within two days, so that fixed it. Delivery itself was free, quick and well packed, they even carried it in as far as they could. The annoying bit was there was no order confirmation email and nothing showed in my online account, which made arranging the installer a bit faffy. Not perfect, but overall it works well and we’d buy from them again.
Nice grill, poor delivery
free DoJoe with any delivery. I asked if the promotion applied to my order and said I'd rather cancel and reorder if not; they begged me not to cancel and promised the free DoJoe. Three weeks after the promised arrival I finally got the BBQ, and next week it'll have been nearly two months since I ordered and there's still no DoJoe. When it did arrive the grill itself is lovely — that's the weird part — but the whole process left a bad taste. Customer service has been patchy, messages unanswered for days, and information inconsistent. I have had smoother experiences with other retailers who hit their delivery windows, so this felt like a step backwards. I get delays happen, but the combination of misleading stock info, a last-minute promo and repeated assurances that weren't kept is frustrating. A bit enthusiastic about the barbecue itself, but overall I'm disappointed and wouldn't rely on them again.
Good result, minor hassle
In short, I'd use them again. The stove works well and meets expectations. One part was missing when it arrived. I phoned and emailed and they sent a replacement within two days, which was a pleasant surprise. Delivery was free, quick and well packaged, and the driver brought it in as far as he could. The awkward bit was that I never got a confirmation email and the order didn't appear in my online account, so proving details to our installer took extra time. It didn't affect the product but it made the installation dance more fiddly than it needed to be. Small process fixes — a confirmation email and visible order in the account — would tidy things up. Overall no regrets. Recommend them, and I'll shop here again.
Bought on impulse, regretted it soon after
don’t assume those “in stock” labels are reliable. If you need a straightforward purchase and delivery, look elsewhere — I lost time and money, and that’s frustrating.
Wood Burning Stove
I recently bought a wood burning stove from Direct Stoves and I must say the customer service I received was top-notch. The owner, a chap called Adam I believe, personally got in touch with me to sort out any issues I had with my order. He gave me all the info I needed on how he was sorting things out and was really sorry for any inconvenience caused. It's clear he takes pride in his business and cares about keeping customers happy. I found his updates really reassuring and appreciated the quick response to any problems. Big thanks to Adam for helping me find an installer and for throwing in a free log basket with my order too.
Wooly Mammoth stove purchase
I bought a stove from Direct Stoves not too long ago and I have to say, I'm really disappointed with it. At first, the price seemed great at £700, but the quality of the stove has turned out to be quite poor. In just 18 months of occasional use, I've had to change the rope on the door three times already. On top of that, the glass and stove easily get marked, and now two of the bricks inside are broken. The customer service from Direct Stoves has been really unhelpful, giving me responses that made me feel like they didn't care about my concerns at all. I definitely regret choosing this product from them and next time, I'll be looking to buy from a local store for better support after the sale.
Wood burning stove
When I bought a wood-burning stove from Direct Stoves, I was really impressed with the customer service I got from Julie and Lucy. They knew their stuff when it came to the products and how to order and install them. They explained everything clearly and always got back to me quickly when I emailed with questions. When I went into the shop, Lucy was friendly, professional, and gave me a lovely welcome. Mark, who came to check out the job, was also great. All in all, the service I got was outstanding, and I'm really happy with my experience at Direct Stoves.
Electric stove for lounge
I recently bought an electric fireplace for our living room and I have to say, it has really impressed us. The York electric stove looks so realistic and has become a lovely addition to our home. It not only keeps us warm but also adds a touch of class to our living area. We got a great deal on it after comparing prices from different suppliers, so it was definitely worth the money. Although there was a slight delay in our order because of stock availability, Leanne from customer support was really helpful and kept us in the loop, which I was grateful for. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend Direct Stoves to anyone looking for quality heating solutions.
