I first saw one at a mate’s workshop and grabbed it because it felt solid and easy to get going. Using it day-to-day it’s surprisingly smooth, the prints and engraves have a nice finish and it’s quick to set up. There were annoying faults later — belts snapped, motors lost torque and it skipped steps — and replacement parts took about three weeks. Still, I’ve told a few friends as it’s useful.
Half-unpacked, half-patient
17 days and counting, different couriers turning up, and the website’s "in stock, 5–7 days" claim was wildly optimistic. Bits work, not perfect, and would’ve been nicer if they'd been honest.
Half decent, but not without hassles
I’d been waiting ages, resigned myself to keeping what I had, and then suddenly it just did the job — picked up the dust, the spindle held firm and I could get on with what I needed. That small relief, that "actually, okay" moment, is what sticks with me. It’s not perfect — the replacement spindle had scuffs and the vacuum’s door magnet was loose at first — and the customer support were slow and a bit defensive, blaming shipping as if that explains everything. Also the return policy is brutal: you’re expected to pay return postage to China plus a restocking fee, which makes returning things almost impossible. After days of emails I accepted a replacement rather than spending hundreds on postage, so yes, I compromised. In the end the kit works well enough for routine jobs and the replacement did the trick, so I was satisfied in the practical sense. I wouldn’t trust them for ongoing consumables though, and I won’t be recommending them widely anymore. If you’re willing to put up with a few scrapes, a bit of faff with support, and the risk of awkward returns, it’s usable. But don’t expect a smooth, worry-free experience from ordering to delivery.
Half‑finished job, dead spindle
they wanted loads of videos, replied after days each time and only after that agreed to send a replacement. I'm already four weeks without my router and now they say, because of Chinese New Year and some wiring problems, they won’t ship until the end of February. The motor itself was decent, but the support and long downtime make it risky if you need the kit regularly.
That first proper cut
Bought a FoxAlien 4040-XE and spent weeks faffing with setup and slow replies from China; I was close to giving up. The moment I knew I was actually happy was when, after a few tweaks and a replacement part, it finally made a clean, repeatable cut — I literally sat there quietly pleased. It's not perfect, support can be patchy and fiddly, and I miss the smoother service I had with a US supplier, but it works.
