I kept checking the photos of the chair because I was worried the little details from my daughter's baby clothes might get lost in the overall design. They didn't. The sleeves, prints and tiny bits I remembered were positioned thoughtfully, rather than just stitched on wherever they fitted. Lisa also kept me updated when the parcel arrived and again before it was sent back, which saved me chasing anyone. The chair feels properly made, not flimsy, and the matching cushion was worth adding. It is a fairly emotional thing to unpack, if I'm honest. I'd suggest keeping aside the items you really want visible before posting everything off. Very pleased with how it turned out.
It finally felt like my chair
I’ll admit, I expected the idea in my head to look better than it ever could on an actual chair. After years of collecting memories from events and competitions, I wanted something personal for my study, but I’d had a custom order go wrong before, so I was cautious. Lisa didn’t brush past the details, though; she asked what each photo and colour meant and made suggestions without taking over. When the chair and cushion arrived, the mix of colours somehow felt like mine rather than just busy. And, slightly surprisingly, it’s properly comfortable too. I put a picture up online that evening and my friends immediately started asking where it came from. The whole thing felt much less risky once I’d spoken to her.
A chair that feels like Oliver
When the chair arrived, I honestly left it in its wrapping for a little while because I wasn’t sure I was ready to see it. We’d sent off Oliver’s favourite clothes after losing him to cancer in February, aged eight, and the whole idea felt comforting but also a bit daunting. I worried it might look too “crafted”, if that makes sense, rather than like him. Those worries disappeared once we unwrapped it. The fabrics have been arranged with real care, and little details bring back ordinary memories – school mornings, muddy football afternoons and pyjamas on the sofa. It now sits in our living room and gets used properly, not tucked away like a museum piece. Visitors nearly always notice it, then understand why it matters. Delivery was well organised and the chair arrived safely, which was a real relief with something so personal. Lisa and the team were patient, clear and never pushy when we had questions. It wasn’t cheap, no, but for something we’ll keep forever, it feels fair. We were sceptical at first; now we’re genuinely grateful.
