…so there I was, halfway through a shoot when the focus ring started feeling loose. I'd bought the 50mm direct from Meike Global and it was fine for the first couple of months, then small bits started to wobble — not a dramatic break, just an annoying looseness that makes manual focus feel sloppy. I asked Meike if there was a simple way to tighten it myself, I wasn’t even asking for a warranty job, just which screws to check. They flatly refused to help, wouldn’t tell me anything. Photos are still decent, colours and sharpness ok, but the handling feels cheap now. Compared to other brands where support helped with a tip or two, this was disappointing. Still usable, but not ideal.
Small brand, decent results
it looked solid enough and felt heavier than I expected, but I was nervous about autofocus and build quality. There was a hiccup with the order details at first — a mix-up on my end and theirs — but their customer team actually sorted it without making me chase them. They offered a partial refund or a firmware tweak and walked me through the steps over a few messages. That really changed my mind about the company.
The autofocus isn’t lightning-quick compared with top-tier glass, and you can hear it hunting a touch more, but in practical use it locked on reliably for portraits and run-and-gun video. I swapped out a standard Panasonic kit lens and haven’t missed it; I kept a Sigma 1.4 for low-light work, but these lenses from the L-mount range cover most days just fine. Delivery was prompt and the packaging protected the kit well — no dents, and tracking updates were accurate, which I appreciated.
It’s not perfect: some edges are a little softer wide open and you’ll notice the difference if you pixel-peep. Still, for the price you get decent construction and a company that actually responds. If you want pro-level glass all the time, fine — but if you want competent lenses and service that tries to make things right, this ticks the boxes. Worth a try, especially if you don’t want to break the bank. Not reliable in my case
quick replies, clear answers, everything seemed normal until payment cleared. After that the support went quiet and they shipped the item but provided no tracking updates for ages. Parcel sat in customs, bounced back, and I had to chase them several times. Only after I started posting complaints on social media did they respond, delete my comments and eventually refund me. So yes, they refunded, but I missed a job and spent weeks waiting. Dry fact: product may arrive or you may just get your money back after hassle. Slightly annoyed, not great.
