I can cope with a delayed order if someone tells me what is going on, but that never happened here. I was buying 144 mugs for work and tried to check a detail before placing the order. I left messages, used chat and sent an email; nothing came back. Eventually I ordered online because I was running out of time, then didn’t even get confirmation. Oddly, the only person I managed to reach was in accounts. They said the mugs could take three months, though I needed them within three weeks. That was when I asked to cancel. Even getting confirmation turned into a chase, with calls dropping into voicemail. I’ve dealt with suppliers with delays before, and a quick honest reply makes it manageable. Here, the lack of contact was more frustrating than the delay itself.

if it was not with me by 30 March, I wanted the order cancelled and my money back. He offered a £10-style future credit, which was a slightly strange solution when I was not keen to order again. I suggested extra pens instead, given the delay. After checking with a manager, he came back with ten free pens. Not a huge gesture, but at least it was something. The parcel arrived on 26 March, before my deadline. And this is the bit that surprised me: the pens are actually rather good. They feel heavier than expected, write smoothly, and look more like a small gift than cheap giveaway stock. The silver print is small, but clear against the blue barrel. The stylus works too. The product did what I needed. The ordering and communication side really did not.
