The most frustrating bit wasn’t even the wrong size; it was feeling as though every route led back to the chatbot. I’d ordered a colour that later turned out to be unavailable, and simply asked for the same item in another colour they appeared to have. Instead, I was pushed towards a cheaper-looking substitute, while the rest of my order was held up too.
The substitute was the real let-down
By the time I’d finished going round in circles with customer support, I honestly wished I hadn’t bothered placing the order. I bought three bras and a cami for everyday wear, mainly because I needed a few comfortable basics for work and weekends, and it wasn’t a cheap order. The free shapewear shorts offered at checkout were a nice extra, so I was pleased when the order confirmation showed them clearly. Then the parcel arrived with polka-dot bikini bottoms instead. Not remotely similar, not useful to me, and, if I’m honest, pretty unattractive too. What annoyed me most was being told the shorts were out of stock and that this was apparently an acceptable replacement. It really wasn’t. I contacted them and got what felt like automated replies the whole time. Their solution was a 10% discount on another purchase, which seemed odd when the problem was that they hadn’t sent the promised item in the first place. I even suggested a sale pair of shorts that looked almost identical and said I’d be happy with those, but that message was ignored. After hours spent repeating myself, the chat simply seemed to run out of answers. The bras themselves are fine, but the handling of this was frustrating and made the whole purchase feel a bit sour.
A proper little confidence boost
Halfway through getting dressed for a family lunch, I nearly gave up and put my usual loose jumper back on. I’m in my seventies now and, honestly, I’ve got very used to choosing clothes that hide rather than show anything. Then I remembered the Shapermint bodysuit I’d ordered from Amazon a few days earlier, still folded in its packet on the chair. I’d bought it on a bit of a whim after seeing it online, thinking it would probably be another one of those things that looks brilliant on a twenty-something model and ridiculous on me. Still, curiosity got the better of me.
A worrying experience before a holiday
I would not wear one of these straight from the packet again. That is my main takeaway from this, and it is not something I expected to be saying about shapewear.
