Buy with caution — poor communication and no delivery

I wouldn’t recommend this seller. I needed the engine for a club outing and a restoration project, so I was prepared to pay for something decent, but the whole thing turned into a waste of time and money. They said the engine was in stock, I paid roughly $999 for the engine plus about $100 for a starter kit and shipping — around $1,200 in total. After 45 days there’s still no sign of shipment. Communication is slow and odd: replies come from a Gmail address and someone called Mona, and it takes about 48 hours to get any reply. I’ve sent 34 emails over seven weeks and all I got were excuses and promises of shipment “in two days” or “next week” that never happen. I finally asked for a refund, and that hasn’t shown up on my card either. The manufacturer is in China, which isn’t a problem in itself, but combined with the sketchy contact details and no tracking or proof of dispatch it looks risky. I did like the product spec and would’ve been pleased if it arrived, but the lack of follow-through killed it. If you need something reliable for an event or repair, look elsewhere.

Nearly lost sleep over this, but it did arrive

I was properly anxious at first, but in the end the parcel turned up — just. Needed this because my 13‑year‑old son had spent nearly all his pocket money on it, so yeah, stakes were high. I started off sceptical and stayed sceptical for days. I emailed a rep called Mona who basically kept saying it was “on the way”, which didn’t help much. I phoned the carrier listed on the tracking and they were some unfamiliar outfit called Uni Uni — never heard of them — and their story was vague. The tracking showed the parcel landed with a local handler on 23rd December, then nothing for days. I Googled the company, read a bunch of worrying posts, and nearly convinced myself we’d been scammed. I was being that parent, checking the inbox constantly, ringing and re‑ringing. Eventually, after a fair bit of nagging, the parcel did arrive intact and as described, so that shifted my mood from ‘this is a joke’ to ‘phew, okay then’. Still, the whole experience felt sloppy: dodgy carrier name, late delivery, generic email replies that don’t actually explain anything. If you’re buying something a kid saved up for, be prepared to chase and to worry. So overall relief, but I’d recommend being cautious and perhaps using a card with buyer protection.
