Worth it in the end — even with the faff of customs. I started using The Luxury Closet about four years ago when I moved back to Canada and realised local options were either boring or stupidly pricey. At first I was a bit sceptical, browsing and wondering if photos matched reality, but my first order arrived and my first impression was pleasantly surprised. Since then I've picked up work pieces and a couple of wedding outfits, shoes that somehow made everything look smarter — outfit boosters. I did have to send back two items (a dress and a pair of shoes) and the returns were easy, no drama, which I appreciated. The one snag is the extra customs fees for us in Canada — they add up — but overall the quality and the idea of giving designer clothes a second life won me over.
Stitching gave me pause
Funny thing — the first thing that caught my eye wasn’t the shape or the leather but the stitching; it was just slightly off and that nagged at me every time I picked the bag up. I’d bought it to replace my everyday work bag, the one I use for commuting and the odd school run, so I was hoping for something that felt reliable day in, day out. When I asked about authenticity I got reassurances and a “certificate”, but I kept thinking the stitching and the missing date code didn’t add up. Eventually they did escalate it and asked me to return the item, which I did. The frustrating bit was being only partly refunded and having to cover customs charges myself — fairly annoying when the return was prompted by their own doubts. After I flagged it publicly they did get back to me and refunded the customs costs, which I appreciated, even if it shouldn’t have needed a public nudge. Overall I’m glad the money issue was sorted in the end, but the whole experience knocked my confidence and made me double-check everything a lot more than I wanted to.

I was halfway through packing boxes for a move, sweating over whether to bother selling my old designer coat, when I decided to give this place a go — despite the scary reviews I'd skimmed. Ended up paying about €270 for a €165 purchase once customs and fees were added. I even checked rules for different countries because it felt wrong — seemed like the customs valuation might’ve been based on a full retail price, not the second‑hand tag. Customer service did step in after I complained and eventually offered a partial refund of the duty, which I appreciate, and that helped. Still, it left a sour taste. If you’re tempted, factor in high possible import charges. I’m glad they tried to sort it, but be prepared for surprises and don’t assume the listed price is all you’ll pay.
Mixed bag — nice site but tricky bits

Misleading shipping information
I was quite disappointed with my order from The Luxury Closet. I didn't realise they were shipping from the UAE until DHL got in touch about extra customs fees. I tried to halt the shipment while it was still in the UAE, but The Luxury Closet wasn't very helpful and seemed to ignore my requests. In the end, I had to take matters into my own hands by getting in touch with PayPal to secure a refund. I'd recommend others to be careful when dealing with this company.

Gucci items sold at low prices
I completely agree with the customer who left the review below about their experience with The Luxury Closet. I had a similar situation when I sold some of my Gucci items back in 2020, and the prices dropped way too low after some time. It was really disappointing because my Gucci briefcase, which was in really good condition, ended up being sold for under 700aed, even though I believed it was worth much more. I started to wonder if they resell the items somewhere else for a profit, as the prices they offered were quite shocking. The most frustrating part was when my LV loafers, which I paid over 2.5k for, were sold for only 700aed. I tried to get in touch with them, but they blamed me for not checking the prices regularly. It was really annoying because the value of my bags decreased a lot, and I feel like I lost a great deal of money. I haven't used their services again because I don't think they offer fair prices for items in good condition. I wish they would be more upfront about their pricing policies and show more consideration towards their customers who trusted them with their luxury items.

After reading some great reviews, I decided to finally buy a handbag that I've been hunting for ages. The whole buying process went really smoothly and was stress-free. Gucci Snakeskin Bag
I was really annoyed with The Luxury Closet recently. I've been a loyal customer for four whole years and I keep having problems with my orders. It's just not fair. One time I bought a Dolce and Gabbana bag but they cancelled the order because of a voucher glitch and then someone else got it! Can you believe it? Then they cancelled my Hermes belt because they changed the price and relisted it for more money without even letting me know. And today, I missed out on a Gucci Snakeskin bag even though they said I could make an offer. I was constantly checking, but they didn't even give me a chance to reply when the seller accepted. I didn't get any email or text about it. It's so frustrating. I ended up returning another item out of sheer aggravation. The Luxury Closet is really just wasting my time and causing me a lot of stress. I think it's best to avoid the 'Make an Offer' button and the wishlist feature, they're completely pointless here.

I bought some really nice shoes online, but when they came, they didn't fit properly. So, I had to send them back, but when I got my money back, it was much less than what I had paid for the shoes. I was really gutted by the whole situation.
