Woke up to a steady beep this morning — the CO detector chuntering every 45 seconds. We bought the Vivint setup about five years ago, paid outright, and went to silence it. Replaced the battery, still the same. When I rang support they told me to check the expiry date — June 11, 2023 — and said it was out of warranty, so buy a new one. Asked for a supervisor, was stonewalled, offered a small £15 discount. Bit insulting. The garage door opener has never worked properly either, and the glass-break sensor keeps flagging low battery even after several batteries. Honestly, I'd have expected better build quality and a human who'll talk to you. If you're thinking of buying, maybe look elsewhere or at least get warranty terms in writing. I was annoyed, but that £15 won't fix a dodgy unit.

after a couple of awkward phone calls, a misplaced promise and a bit of waiting, someone finally said they’d sort a credit and send the battery. The moment the refund actually popped into my account a few days later and the new battery snapped in perfectly, I let out a proper sigh of relief. Weirdly grateful, a bit amused that such a tiny thing could make my week. The staff weren’t brilliant at first — patchy English, fobbing me off — but persistence paid off. I use the device daily and that little confirmation that everything was back to normal made me happy, really. No fanfare, just back to ordinary life with one less worry. Felt like a small victory, and honestly that’s what mattered.

My small piece of advice: keep a clear visible notice, note the time and name, and insist on a manager or a written confirmation if they promise to remove your details. It would have been better if the company simply respected the notice and had proper escalation, but at least someone did promise to delete me from their list.Late-night install, long-term headache

Service visits cost me and the same fault keeps recurring. Oddly, there was one small surprise: on a couple of evenings the footage looked oddly crisp and cinematic, like an HDR photo, which I found strangely pleasing even though it didn’t help security. Overall, I’d say don’t rush into this kind of install, check who’s turning up at night and insist on a proper, tidy job — and take notes on every service call.
