After my old drawing tablet started feeling a bit unreliable during a busy freelance project, I needed something that wouldn’t slow me down. I went for the Xencelabs Medium first, mostly because a colleague kept mentioning it, and honestly the Quick Keys were the surprise here. Having my most-used shortcuts sitting separately instead of buried in menus has made drawing feel much less fiddly. I liked it enough that I later picked up the smaller one for travelling, which says a lot. The pen feels comfortable for long sessions too, and the whole bundle seemed better value than what I’d been looking at elsewhere. Support answered a small setup question quickly, no fuss. I’m genuinely relieved I made the switch; it’s been a really solid fit for my workflow.

Halfway through a five‑hour retouch I noticed something odd — the pen hadn’t faltered once, and I realised I was actually relaxed about the hardware. I came in sceptical, having used a few tablets that fidgeted or needed fiddly drivers, but these just work. The build feels proper, not the flimsy stuff I’ve had before, and having two sizes — one in the studio and a smaller one for trips — suits my routine better than I expected. The software behaved straight away with Photoshop, no weird workarounds, which was a relief. Support has been surprisingly patient; I pester them now and then and they reply, which matters. There are small niggles — I’d like a slightly better battery life and maybe a cheaper option for students — but at the moment I’m satisfied. If you’re wavering, try one for a week; you’ll notice when things stop getting in the way of work. That’s the moment I knew it was worth it.
Practical, not flashy
driver updates crop up and at first I fiddled with pressure settings — that took a day — but otherwise it's solid. Support answered my questions quickly and seemed to care. I sold off older kit after a couple of weeks. Not flawless, but it just works, reliably.
