charged it as instructed and within a day we were getting battery warnings and random voicemails telling us something was wrong. For a few days there were daily alerts, and it felt like we were on call constantly. The worst bit was an overnight call to say the button had been pressed and paramedics might need to be sent — only to find our relative perfectly fine and the device untouched. It was baffling, because an hour later the same alarm pinged again and then the device showed as offline with a dead battery. At that point we decided to send it back. Saying goodbye to the faulty unit was straightforward enough — I followed the return instructions and posted it off. What caught me out afterwards was being rung the next day to say the device showed 75% battery and could I send tracking details so they could flag it as returned; apparently it had come back to life and the monitoring team didn’t want UPS to trigger a false alarm. Then, maddeningly, in the small hours we were woken up by yet another call saying paramedics had been dispatched — for a device that was already in the mail. So yeah, communication there was messy and it was upsetting to be pulled up at 1:30am. I had to wait until morning to get anyone senior on the phone, and they weren’t keen to offer any refund for the hassle, which was frustrating. Despite all that, a few positives stood out: some of the staff were genuinely helpful and polite, the replacement process itself was quick, and I was actually surprised by how fast the monitoring team respond — even if sometimes that speed worked against us. Compared with other companies I’ve dealt with, the technology and idea are good and the responsiveness is impressive; the execution and internal communication need work. So, not perfect, but I’d still recommend them with the caveat: expect a few hiccups and keep your cool — and get tracking info handy.
