I paid £150 upfront because we’d run out of hot water in the middle of a cold spell and the boiler had started dripping. The first fitter turned up, banged at the unit with a spanner, raised the system pressure and left saying it needed lots of parts. He didn’t fit anything obvious and we were left a week with no heating. I called repeatedly and got told they couldn’t contact him and parts weren’t available. Desperate, I agreed to pay another quoted £400 for a return visit and parts, thinking that would sort the pump problem. A week later a different engineer fitted a diaphragm kit and a microswitch — parts that cost about £20. The pump kept failing soon after, so most of what I paid bought little more than phone calls and a small kit. I asked for an itemised bill and breakdown; apparently they ‘don’t do’ that. Frustrating, feels like poor value and poor follow-through.
Fast, helpful and mostly hassle-free
the invoice layout confused me at first and I had to phone for clarification, which was handled well but could've been smoother. Also, a bit of dust in the hall afterwards that I had to sweep up — nothing major, more an observation. Overall I'm grateful it went so well and relieved it wasn't a faff. I will recommend Homeheat to friends and family when boilers come up, and I already have told a couple of neighbours about them. Fair, competent and human — with a tiny room for polish.
