they basically shrugged and told me it was up to me to buy tape and get the item back to them, and warned they’d charge for any return damage and a restocking fee — even though they’d sent the wrong item. They offered a token refund (about $47) to keep what they’d sent but didn’t say they’d send the correct desk or take responsibility. No apology, no real help, just a return label and a lot of hassle.
Practically speaking, it felt like working for them: repacking, sourcing tape, worrying about scuffs on a glass shelf I didn’t want. Bit of a waste of time and stress. heavy, reassuringly chunky, smooth finish. That’s the weird thing — the product itself is proper quality when it arrives intact.
But the delivery mix-up made the whole thing a faff. First table arrived smashed, second one the same, third finally perfect. Each replacement involved emails, waiting, and that awful feeling you get when nobody seems to want to sort out the old, damaged pieces. I don’t drive, so getting rid of two 200lb tables isn’t exactly handy; a Tasker quoted about £400 to remove both, which felt daft — nearly as much as I paid for the table. I told the company that wasn’t fair; they basically said “we’re done” once the third one was fine. Bit cold.
As for using it: once it stayed in one piece, it’s lovely. Heavier than I expected, sits solid, no wobble, and the tabletop has a nice grain. It’s awkward to manoeuvre but very satisfying to use — feels proper grown-up furniture. There are a couple of small knocks from the earlier deliveries but nothing that ruins it.
So, not a total disaster but far from smooth. Good product, rubbish aftercare. If you can manage delivery and disposal yourself, it’s worth considering; if you’re not up for chasing things or paying extra to remove damaged items, steer clear. Saw the advert on a second‑hand marketplace after a mate sent me the link, and at first I thought it was a decent bargain. I ordered because the photos and the spec promised a compact three‑drawer unit for storing bits and pieces. Sceptical straight away, which turned out to be justified.
When it arrived the unit looked fine from the outside, but the drawer dimensions were the problem. The fronts suggested wider drawers, yet the usable drawer space was noticeably narrower and shallower than listed. Things I planned to store simply wouldn’t fit — small boxes and folders that matched the advertised dimensions were too big for the actual drawers. The overall depth and width were also a fraction under what was shown, not huge amounts but enough to matter for my use.
I emailed the seller and was told to return it within ten days, in the original packaging, at my expense, and to send tracking — standard wording but odd when the defect was their inaccurate advert. That pushback from customer service was the low point; they didn’t offer a collection or a prepaid return, which would have felt fairer.
In the end I kept the chest, partly because returning it would have cost nearly as much as the item, and partly because I found another use for it — side table and storage for lighter items — so I’m not angry any more, just wary. If you need precise internal dimensions, measure up carefully or don’t buy from listings like this. Halfway through the first evening I realised something was off — not with the look, that was fine, but with me on it. It's compact, like really compact. The chaise is shallow, the back is low, and if you're around 5'5" or taller you'll probably find yourself tucking in or slouching all the time. I kept moving cushions around, tried different positions, and honestly the cushions are comfy enough for an hour or two of TV, but not for an evening crash.
