I was pacing my kitchen table, laptop open, when the email arrived that finally made me breathe out. I’d signed up to get my first book out late last year and was ridiculously nervous — didn’t know the jargon or what decisions to make. The onboarding was straightforward and someone (my project manager, Hila) quickly cut through the noise. The real turning point was when she phoned to walk me through the cover proof and calm a panic about formatting — that gentle, patient call is when I knew it would be okay. There were a couple of slow edits and the price felt a touch steep, but overall the team were professional, responsive and actually cared. Glad I went with them, honestly grateful for the support — it helped a lot.
Midway relief
Antonella, who kept chasing suppliers and kept me informed, and Ela, who really knows publishing inside out. I’ll focus on Ela for a moment because that’s what changed my view: she explained the ISBN, the proofs, and the metadata in plain language, flagged tiny mistakes I’d missed, and suggested a fix that saved time later. It was dry, practical help — no hype — and yes, I was sceptical at first, but that turned into proper relief. I tipped my editor and a friend, both of whom are pursuing their own projects. If you want straightforward, competent support rather than glossy promises, this is worth considering. Not perfect, some delays, but on balance I’m satisfied and would use them again. Small things, but they matter, and mostly they delivered.
Relief when the correct copy finally went live
I was ready to give up. At first it felt like a mess — hidden membership fees for two years, promises of editing that turned out to be DIY prompts, and a cover design that was basically me typing into a chatbot. Formatting was worse. They uploaded the proof copy, the one with all my errors, and that was the version being sold. I use this book every week for talks and client meetings, so that mistake hurt my reputation. I chased them for days. Emails. Calls. Mostly silence. Then, and this is where I actually felt satisfied, someone took ownership. They stopped the proof listing and replaced it with the corrected file. They admitted the slip-up (briefly) and fixed the Amazon entry. Not perfect — response times are slow and the whole process felt amateur at times — but seeing the right book live, and knowing attendees and clients will now see the proper edition, made a real difference. Small relief, a bit of trust regained, though I'd still warn others to be cautious.
