A long wait with too many moving parts

By the time the money finally appeared, I was more tired than relieved. Our Wizz Air flight was delayed by more than eight hours in October, with two young children in tow, so I started claims with both Wizz Air and AirAdvisor. On AirAdvisor’s form I made it clear that I had already contacted the airline directly. Their estimate showed €250 for each traveller, which sounded straightforward at first, but there was also a €75 charge per person sitting beside it. I asked what that was for and was told it was their 30% commission. That did not sit brilliantly with me, because Wizz Air was offering the same route for claiming compensation without a deduction. I said I did not want to continue on those terms. AirAdvisor’s response was that, under clause 6, I could not withdraw any more. Then came roughly five months of waiting, messages and trying to understand where things stood. The compensation figure changed from €250 to €200 per person. Their fee became €60 per person, so the final amount due to us was €420 from a total €750 claim. The maths was explained, eventually, but it was hard not to feel disappointed after the original estimate. Customer support did reply, and I do not want to pretend they ignored me completely. The problem was that each chat seemed to add another step. When I asked for payment into my wife’s account, they required a signed written declaration first. I understand security checks, especially where bank details differ, yet after all the earlier discussions it felt like another barrier. For anyone considering them, I would compare the airline’s own claims process first and read the cancellation terms carefully. It may work out fine for some people, but my experience was slow, costly and more stressful than I expected.

About AirAdvisor

The company generally operates on a success-fee basis, deducting a commission when compensation is recovered.
