room felt roomy, bathroom felt proper (there are three small steps up to it though, a bit odd but we managed). Food and the day trips were relaxed and enjoyable. The new telly had no subtitles; reception tried for about half an hour and couldn’t fix it. Annoying, but overall I’m glad we went.
Near-miss booking, decent holiday
By the time I'd finally booked, I was halfway convinced I'd given up. My sister had mentioned the site, so I went in with some hope, but the homepage threw up pop-ups and the filters simply wouldn't show the day trip I knew existed. I ended up clicking through every single listing — took about ten minutes — before I found the date I needed. Once booked, everything felt straightforward; confirmations arrived, the group could all access the link I sent, and the trip itself matched the description. So yes, the range of holidays is strong, but the site needs sorting out — fiddly and not quite polished, though it works.
Nice and fuss-free
Really pleased — booking was painless and I'd recommend them. They dealt with special needs without any drama, the woman on the phone was proper helpful and professional, and picking seats is handy. Maybe clearer times next time.
Mid-trip grin
Halfway through day two I realised I was actually smug — the hotel was proper value, trips spot-on and driver Andy kept cracking jokes. I've done sticky coach tours before, but this felt really different.
Bit of a mixed bag
Sat on the coach thinking this could go either way; driver wasn't chatty and the hotel room was tiny, but then I flopped onto the bed and realised it was actually really comfortable. Staff were helpful. Food was meh — bring a snack, honestly.
Unexpectedly chuffed
I booked a mystery trip on 1 June because I needed a proper escape after a rubbish week and a nightmare driver last time. I was half expecting chaos. Then Tom turned up — calm, chatty, sorted everything. The moment I let out a little sigh, I knew I was genuinely pleased.
Phone saved the day
call rather than wrestling with the website.
Comfort wins the day
book early and hope for Thomas, it makes a difference.
Quietly fine, one hiccup
sensible stops, clean hotels and generous portions. Staff were helpful and friendly. I lost a star for a muddle with coach allocation and luggage at the start and end — annoying, especially as other operators handled that better, not ideal but overall fine.
Small win despite the weather
Came back from Bournemouth yesterday — weather was awful, but the coach drop-off was on time and Keith, the driver, was very conscientious. Hotel staff were efficient and polite, rooms were fine and the food acceptable. I've had worse service elsewhere, so the smooth delivery and helpful team made it worth the trip. To be honest, not ecstatic, but content.
Decent trip, dodgy dinner
Worth going, but the food nearly put me off. We did Loch Lomond, Glasgow and the Ayrshire coast last week and honestly the coach trip was mostly spot on — Paul, our driver, was patient and knows the route inside out. One stop at Girvan felt pointless though; I'd drop it and swap in Largs next time. Hotel itself was tidy and staff were sound, friendly even, but the evening meals were grim, really. Would go again but someone should tell hotel management to sort the catering.
Relief at reception
I didn’t expect the moment of relief when reception rang to say my handbag had turned up. The new Loretta in Llandudno felt calm; staff were helpful and Paul G, the driver, organised for it to be returned to Hull by another driver. That was the point I knew I was satisfied — honest people sorting things out. Not perfect (a slow check‑in), but good enough. We’ll be booking with Caledonian Travel again.
Rough start, decent finish
I remember folding my bag on a grubby seat and thinking this would be a wasted day. First impression was poor. The outward bus looked like a school run. Driver seemed unsure of the route and we took ages, then hit a concrete bollard in Southport. We missed the coach to the Flower Show. Hotel itself was very good. The moment I knew it wasn't a total loss came on the return, a tidy Caledonian coach that got us back in 3½ hours. Not perfect, but acceptable.
Weekend reset by coach
Half asleep on the coach, I wasn't expecting much, but the driver looked after us really well — polite, careful and helpful the whole way. We had two decent stops en route to Stoke and the Hilton was modern; rooms even had a mini‑fridge which was handy for late snacks. Dinner was good quality and the vegetarian option actually tasted nice. Staff were friendly and made things easy, aside from a small check‑in delay. I take these weekend trips to switch off after work, reliable overall.
Mixed bag, delivery let us down
one stop at a lorry park with nothing edible, he dumped our case and my mobility scooter on the pavement and was nearly driving off before we’d collected them. I’ve had better delivery and care with other companies, yet despite it I’m not completely unhappy.
Bolton evening sold it to me
I knew I was happy on the first night, sitting in the hotel lounge after dinner and thinking this was worth it. The Britanior in Bolton was solid — clean room, decent food and staff who actually wanted to chat. Our coach driver Damien was a laugh and proper company, which made the day. The Peak Railway was the odd one out though; not steam, odd views and no one said why we stopped. I’d bin that part or at least give some info. Still, mainly pleased.
Mostly meh stay
I spotted the deal on a bargain site and booked without much thought. The place turned out quite ordinary. Food was the low point — tasted like supermarket frozen meals from starter to pud and several people sent the steak-and-kidney back. The shower failed until the day before we left. There are no lifts and 'ground floor' often still means steps. They offered a free day but trips were limited; we paid for Glasgow, it was cancelled and we got stuck on a long, rather dull loch tour. Oddly, the views were surprisingly decent. I told a mate to skip it.
Proper keeper
Standing at the coach door, watching my lad wrestle with his case, I felt that little click of relief — this is going to be good. I'm 78 and a bit disabled, so I'm picky; previous companies left me stressing, but from the neat, roomy coach to the brilliant air‑con and Allen, our driver, everything just fit. The murder mystery night and Lion King trip were properly enjoyable, with extra sightseeing thrown in so we didn't feel short‑changed. Overnight stays were simple but comfy. I booked Scotland already — Oban and Inveraray — because when a trip runs like that, you know you've found a keeper.
Jamie made the difference
Standing in a drizzle, phone nearly dead, Jamie, our driver, arrived calm and practical. He navigated central London like he'd done it a thousand times — no fuss, friendly, kept everyone relaxed. Delivery-wise couldn't fault him; it's a world away from other firms I've used where drivers were late or flustered. The hotel was smart and spotless, a bit posh but not showy; buffet meals had plenty of choice, which suited our lazy mornings. We had decent free time and the Camden outing was fun. At a Live Odyssey gig I ended up chatting with a notable performer who nudged me to keep going with my own projects. Not perfect — small hiccup at check-in — but I’d book again.
Quiet tea saved the day
We dashed off for a day out to Dumfries House on 17 May, mostly to get out of the usual weekend rut. The coach was on time and comfy, which is always a relief. No proper itinerary though, so we had a daft first stop at Girvan when everything was shut — felt a bit like being left at a shop window. Portpatrick was nicer and actually worth wandering. The hotel was tidy, but the evening meal was underwhelming and breakfast was okay until the coffee machine ran out of milk by 7.15, so that was grim. The real highlight was the Dumfries House visit and especially the afternoon tea — proper lovely, made the day worthwhile. Driver could have chatted more. Not perfect, but I’d go again.
