oven, microwave, dishwasher, decent fridge. I cooked a few simple dinners, and it was nice to not faff about looking for pans or cutlery — everything was there. The living room is warm and inviting for an evening with a book, the sofas are comfortable, and the garden seating caught the late sun so we ate outside a couple of times. Bedrooms are quiet and well put together — the top-floor room has a lovely outlook. Stairs are a bit steep, but that’s part of the charm, really. Little touches like a welcome box with bread, jam, eggs and water made arrival easy and felt thoughtful. We used it for a weekend of walking, reading and just switching off; I left calmer than I arrived and would happily come back.
Birthday in a vicarage
Rain on the roof and me thinking this might be another overhyped weekend — turned out fine. The place is nicely renovated and comfortable; the hot tub was the unexpected highlight, actually worked and wasn't mouldy or cold like at a different place we tried last year. Host (Phil) was around when needed, straightforward and quick to reply. Nothing flashy, just everything working, so we'd go back.

you either have the harsh overhead spots on or it’s too dim. We kept wanting a lamp or two, or just a dimmer, and a small low night light in the bathrooms would’ve been handy. After a few grim stays elsewhere this felt like a relief. Would definitely think about coming back, so glad it lived up to expectations.
