    Your cars are being regularly hired by our company marketier , so I know about Argus Car Hire.

    I had the misfortune to use this company for my 70th birthday trip to Portugal, which had to be cancelled due to quarantine restrictions. All my other bookings were cancelled without problems. However, when I checked my hire car booking, Argus Car had never sent me a booking confirmation (only an email to say they were going to find out if the car I needed was available) and I didn't think I needed to do anything. Unfortunately on a day my email was down, they took more than £500 from my account and by the time I realised it they said I could no longer cancel. They have still not provided me with a copy of the confirmation they say they have sent. Moreover, when I contacted the Car Hire Company (YES Car Hire Faro), they told me they had not received one cent of the money that Argus have taken from me. I find this shocking that an agency like this can simply pocket an amount like this. Will of course never use them again and want to warn other customers not to use them .

    It agree, this magnificent idea is necessary just by the way

    Car hire cagliari sardinia

    I booked car rental for my parents as part of a trip we planned to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Their flight was due in at 6pm in Saturday to Cagliari Sardinia, but was 40 min late. The car rental company that Argus subcontract to, was closed. It seems from their website they are only open u til 6pm, even though customer service at Argus say they should be open u til 11pm.
    When I spoke to Argus customer service, they said no one could help me and they would email, no email has arrived. They also said it would take up to 48 hours to get a response once I made an official complaint.
    My parents had to get a taxi, which cost them some 140 euro. They are currently in a villa up a mountain tain, with no food and no transport. Argus, say they can't help and can't even quarantine they will get a car tomorrow, if they are able to get a taxi back to the airport. Don't what ever you do, make the same mistake and use this company. I have looked at b- rents reviews, the company they subcontract to in Cagliari and this has happened before. This amounts to fraud, selling a service they can't deliver on, with no solution provided.

Took us multiple emails and phone calls to try and resolve, as yet still awaiting a refund of over £150 incorrectly taken. BEWARE

    Beware Argus excess policy waiver policy which has limitations!

    I have used Malagacarhire for years without any problems and read about all the horror stories of car hire rip off and tricks and now I am a victim and feel completely cheated. Don't USE ARGUS and dont take out the excess waiver insurance policy because it means the car hire company will bill you the damage and then YOU have to take it up with Argus or their insurance provider Axa for a refund from them. That leaves you exposed to paperwork and at the mercy of a third party insurance company - good luck with that!. You are better off taking the excess waiver from centauro themselves on the day as that also include roadside assistance which Argus dont cover. centauro told us to take their and cancel Argus which is inferior. Of course you find this out on the day you collect car and Argus CONVENIENTLY dont offer cancellation within 24hrs of rental start date. So its a scam and they know it which is which you can't cancel on the day. I have been tricked so I called Argus on car pick up date because their website would not cancel insurance policy. Spoke to Elena in Dublin who refused to open a complaint, would not give a redress number, refused to give me email of a manager. I explained their trick but there was no process to complain until after the hire is completed. So i will now write to Axa and EU commission to add this experience to their list of complaints

    Good morning Shauna

    We had the following problem –

    Upon arriving into Heathrow we took a shuttle to the desk at the Holiday Inn to pick up our car – immediately they were on the phone to DVLA and did a license check – this I have never encountered.

    They saw the 6 points on my license for an expired insurance policy I didn’t spot and got fined with points and then refused to rent us the car as their insurance didn’t cover most point violations – this they stated was the case with many smaller operators – obviously a cheaper insurance underwriters.

    So there we were, stuck out of Heathrow with no car and no offer of help – we called Argus and again nothing they could do!

    Another shuttle back to the airport (£24 so far) and off to Avis who I have a business account with – they saved the day and immediately provided me with a car.

    The company “Green Motion” (aptly named!) – cancelled the booking on the spot – I request an immediate refund of charges – I will not go into the obvious extra expenses of transport and Avis as you can imagine they were significant.

    Please confirm once done and we will move on – I am in the USA for another week FYI.
