    Booked car without credit card

    I managed to book a car without using my credit card, which had me a bit anxious at first, but everything turned out fine in the end. Just a tip, be sure to carefully read the terms and conditions because the rental company might add some extra charges without you realising. They tried to sneak in some additional fees for minor damage in my case, but thankfully the insurance covered it and resolved the issue promptly. The claim was approved and refunded within a few days, which was really impressive. So, all in all, they did a good job and are definitely dependable!

    X-TRAIL 2015 model rental

    I hired a 2015 X-TRAIL car from this company for my trip to Christchurch. EasyGo Rentals provided a smooth and easy service the whole way through. The car was clean and well looked after, and the staff were really helpful with clear instructions for both picking up and dropping off the vehicle. The cost for a week's rental was much cheaper than other companies, and I also managed to get a great insurance deal with them. As an added bonus, they even offered a complimentary shuttle service to the airport once I returned the car.

    Reservation issue with payment method

    I recently had a booking with the company and ran into a problem with payment when I went to pick up the car. Even though I had booked in advance, I couldn't pay for the car hire because the rental office insisted on a physical card. Sadly, my bank card was saved on my phone and I couldn't use it for payment. This meant I couldn't go ahead with the car rental and it put me in a bit of a tough spot. When I reached out to the company to ask for a refund because of this unexpected situation, they were not very willing to help. It was really disappointing to be charged for a service that I didn't end up getting. The company's lack of flexibility and understanding left me feeling pretty disheartened.

    Car rental in Birmingham: I got scammed

    I experienced a frustrating scam during a recent vehicle rental in Birmingham, UK, that left me paying over double the original online quote. When attempting to pick up a car booked via DiscoverCars, I was met with an unexpected demand from their partner, Drivalia. Instead of the agreed €100, I was coerced into shelling out €250 due to an alleged issue with the security deposit.

    The reason provided was my payment method: despite presenting a VISA card, I was informed that it was a "debit" card and not a "credit" card, which was supposedly required for the deposit. I argued, both in person and later via email, emphasizing that in France, where I'm from, the distinction between "debit" and "credit" cards isn't as pronounced – we generally use VISA or MASTERCARD without such issues. It's worth noting that I've frequently rented cars with this very card, both in the UK and elsewhere, without ever encountering such a problem regarding the deposit.

    This ordeal forced me into opting for a no-deposit package, inflating the cost to 2.5 times the original quote. Having rented vehicles across the globe with the same card, this is a first for me, raising doubts about the legitimacy of the claim that my card was the issue.

    To my fellow French travelers and anyone renting cars internationally: exercise caution or, better yet, consider alternative options to avoid similar situations.

    Car rental experience in Crete

    My experience with the car rental company in Crete was really disappointing. I had just landed after a long flight and when I got to the office to pick up the car I had booked in advance back in the UK, things started to go wrong. I was surprised with extra charges, like a fee for picking up the car after 10.00pm, which wasn't even mentioned in the booking information. On top of that, the person at the office wasn't very helpful and paying the security deposit was a bit of a nightmare. All in all, I wouldn't recommend this company, especially the specific car hire branch I had to deal with.

    Rental car at Gran Canaria

    I often hire a car when I go on holiday to Gran Canaria. The rental desk at the airport is handy, and the car park is nearby, giving good bang for your buck. But, there can be long lines at the rental desk, which can slow things down for customers. It would be really helpful to have another desk during busy times to cut down on waiting. Also, having a staff member at the car park to inspect the vehicle with customers when they pick up and drop off the car would make the whole experience better.
