    Relief after a slog

    a small scrape at the back while reversing (my fault) and suddenly everything got awkward. The broker in front of the rental felt pointless — the price was the same as booking direct — and then I had to stump up the repair costs myself, which is annoying when you’re already out of pocket from a move. I filed a full-coverage claim and was promised processing times of “up to 35 days”, which turned out to be optimistic; replies were mainly automated, and chasing by phone felt like talking to a wall for weeks. The moment I knew I was actually satisfied was when a real person finally emailed with a clear confirmation that part of my costs would be refunded — relief, proper relief, not the shaky sort. I’m glad it ended that way, but the slow, impersonal support left a mark.

    the local crew insisted on extra insurance and said their policy overrode what I’d seen online. They were vague, shuffled papers, and honestly seemed a bit lost (not great when you’ve got kids waiting). I ended up arguing to avoid the surprise charge, which wasted time and left us stressed. In the end I did get a car but only after a long back-and-forth; if I’d caved they’d have taken more money, I’m sure. Customer service felt patchy — the website and the branch didn’t match up, so that’s on the booking system. For daily use this company could work if you’re prepared to double-check everything and possibly haggle at the counter. It’s not flawless, but the vehicle itself was fine once we were finally on the road.

    Mixed bag, mostly disappointing

    they're written so unclearly you end up guessing whether you get money back. I tried to get answers and kept getting the same template replies, which didn't deal with my point at all. It felt like emailing a robot, or a person who hadn't read the messages. There was no willingness to sort things out, no real follow-up. Leaves you feeling uneasy about what happens next. On the plus side, the car itself was cleaner than I expected and surprisingly economical — small thing, but useful during daily driving. Still, the lack of clear policies and proper support overshadowed that. Won't be using them again; I'd rather book direct and avoid the faff.

    Late-night let-down, but sorted in the end

    not great, but not a total rip-off — because eventually they refunded me, after a lot of pushing. I booked a car for a 1am pick-up at Palermo airport; payment went through straight away and the booking looked fine. First impression when I arrived was shock — the desk was closed and a sign said nothing would open till about 8am. No staff, no car, so I had to grab a taxi and get on with the night. I rang and emailed EconomyBookings straight away to complain and ask for a refund. For the first ten days I heard nothing useful, just form replies and dead ends, which made me rightly annoyed and sceptical. After persistently chasing them — more calls, another email and finally escalation — they did come back and processed a refund, so that calmed me down a bit. Still, the whole experience felt sloppy: paying for a time-specific service that wasn’t available is unacceptable. If you use them, be prepared to chase if anything goes wrong.

    don’t use economybooking/AddCar — I lost time and money and it was a proper hassle. I prepaid $300 online and expected to pay the small balance at collection, simple as that. At Orlando airport the desk said they hadn’t received anything from economybooking and then piled on an extra $585 in “mandatory” fees and insurance plus a $200 security hold. We’ve rented cars loads of times and have our own cover, so being forced to buy insurance was a surprise — and not a pleasant one. An economybooking rep came on the phone but the agent at AddCar refused to deal with them, so we ended up arguing in the late evening after a long flight with no solution. We weren’t about to pay triple the price, so we cancelled and went to Enterprise instead — got a car for about $200 without trouble. Still, the $300 we prepaid is gone; AddCar says we didn’t cancel before pick-up and economybooking seems to back them, ignoring that the problem happened at the desk. Frustrating and upsetting, really. My advice: use a well-known US provider, keep screenshots of prepayments, call your card issuer straight away if they try to take money, and don’t assume online bookings are bulletproof. A short emotional note — it felt a bit like being taken advantage of, especially if you’re not familiar with US rental practices. I’ll stick to reputable companies from now on.

    Not what I expected, awkward at the desk

    hidden extras at collection, staff who didn’t seem empowered to sort things out, and forced purchases you hadn’t planned for. Their website itself is fine for booking, so giving them that bit is easy — it’s the pickup and aftercare that fail. I’m not one for shouting “scam” without reason, but I do think they handle problems poorly and dodge refunds. If you’ve had better service elsewhere, you’ll notice the difference straight away. Bottom line — be careful, double-check confirmations, and have a backup plan (or use a better-known provider if you can).

    Rental car booking experience

    I was really happy with how quickly I managed to book a hire car on this website. The prices were a lot cheaper than the other sites I looked at. But I did get a bit confused about where exactly the car hire offices were, whether they were at the airport or somewhere else. It would have been really useful to have Arabic language support as well.

    Car hire extension due to unforeseen circumstances

    I had a bit of a problem and had to extend my car hire at a few different places, like the ones on Ipswich Road in Cardiff, Cardiff Airport, and Bristol Airport. The people working there were really good and helped me out a lot, which made things much better for me when I was feeling a bit stressed. I'm grateful for their help and how quickly they sorted everything out for me.

    Quick rental, fighting over refund

    My experience with Economy was a bit frustrating and disappointing, to be honest. The process of renting from them was pretty simple and speedy, but when it came to getting a refund, that's when the problems started. Economy was being quite difficult about it, and it honestly didn't sit well with me. All in all, not the greatest customer service I've ever had, that's for sure.

    I was really looking forward to booking a car through this website, but when I got to the checkout, they ended up charging me nearly double the price they originally showed! It felt like such a rip off, I was left feeling completely scammed and let down. Seriously, who even does that? It's just not cool at all.

    Car rental booking with delays

    I rented a mid-sized SUV through a third-party website, but when I got to the pickup location, there wasn't any SUV available which caused a delay of nearly 2 hours. I even paid extra for early pickup but the vehicle wasn't ready as they had promised. After a month of investigating, the response I got from the third-party website was really disappointing. They didn't want to give me a refund and used proof of payment and the signed rental agreement as their reasons. The evidence they showed me clearly proved the delay in getting the vehicle, but they chose to ignore it. This whole experience has left me with a bad impression and I won't be using their services again.
