they said we were late, demanded more money and told us they’d hold the car unless we paid into a personal bank account. Felt proper sketchy. Eventually the car turned up, after a stressful wait and constant calls, but the whole experience didn’t calm my original doubts. Relieved to have the car back, annoyed at how it played out.
Felt tricked after cancelling months ahead
I first spotted this parking option because a mate recommended it and I booked 12 nights for a September trip, paying extra for their “cancellation cover” because, you know, plans change. I cancelled well over seven months before the date, so I expected a simple refund — which is exactly what their terms promised. Instead they pushed a voucher, which I refused, then said they’d refund but would keep a £15 admin charge. What annoyed me most was that their own T&Cs say that fee shouldn’t apply if you bought cancellation cover. So it felt like the cover was pointless, just a way to hand-wave a refund. Customer service was slow and vague, kept repeating the same lines, and I had to chase them a few times. Using the service itself would have been fine, I guess, but the whole money-side left a sour taste. I’m annoyed more than furious, mostly disappointed. If someone asked me privately, I’d say be careful and double-check the fine print — and maybe don’t rely on their cover.
Dent and a long wait
I needed a reliable airport transfer for my disabled car — it's adapted, so any damage is a real problem. I used this firm at Heathrow expecting the usual runaround, but I still wasn't prepared. On return I found a big dent in the rear, as if somebody had reversed into a post. I told the driver straight away; he phoned his manager who told me to photograph it and email the address on the return slip and they would sort it.
Two coffees in and still annoyed
Coffee number two and I'm finally relaxed enough to write this — airport run on 27 December that went sideways. We rang the number when we were about 30 minutes out, like the instructions said. The phone just kept ringing for ages then cut off; we tried WhatsApp, texts, everything. Proper stressful when you're watching your flight time. Eventually someone answered, hard to follow their English, they said 'ten minutes' and we believed it. I arrived on time but the driver turned up late, which cost me an extra few pounds because he parked elsewhere. For ages after landing I kept refreshing my Audi app — the car barely moved from a lot about two miles away and every call promised a ten-minute heads-up that never came. The driver finally rang from a withheld number and then turned up about an hour later, looking like he couldn't be bothered. So the service was shabby and communication worse.
Close call, but glad I booked it
Standing by the arrivals, I honestly thought it was going to be a nightmare — you know, tales you read online — but it turned out better than I expected. I first spotted the park-and-ride on a mate’s post and, to be honest, I was sceptical. There was a hiccup with keys and a delay on collection, and yes I had to hang around longer than planned, but the moment I saw the staff bring my car up and hand me the keys properly, that’s when I knew it would be fine. They explained what had happened, apologised (not in some rehearsed way) and sorted the paperwork there and then. I’ve been through worse with other services, so this felt reassuring rather than perfect — just human, you know? I tipped my sister about it afterwards because the price wasn’t silly and the final handover was calm and organised, which matters more than you’d think. Would I use them again? Probably, especially for that easy drop-off and pickup, though I’d advise to allow a bit of extra time just in case. Overall I left relieved, a little tired, but pleased I’d chosen them after all — and I’d tell mates to try it too, with a quick note about allowing a buffer for delays.
Not worth the stress, but I got the car back (eventually)
avoid if you can — I was really wary and for a while thought it was a total con, but in the end I did get my car back, so not everything was lost. I usually use park-and-ride for work trips and family holidays (handy, quick, you know), so I wasn’t expecting to be stuck in a mess like this. Booked with Gatwick Park and Ride / Gatwick Secure LTD and what followed felt like a nightmare replay: they left my car at the airport for ten days, “lost” my keys (apparently two other people had the same problem that day), and made me hang around for about three hours while they tried to wind time down. I questioned them and they turned quite pushy — not pleasant. I did some digging online afterwards and found odd company records, dissolved businesses with similar names and weird director details (fake addresses, the lot). A few of us have been talking to the police who are collecting statements, so there’s some hope of something happening. Practical outcome: I paid a hefty airport charge and had to replace keys, annoying and costly. So yeah, sceptical to start, a bit relieved later because I recovered the car, but definitely not recommending — I’d check everything and maybe pick somewhere else next time.
