I was halfway through stacking the last box when it all began to feel a bit off. We’d read the glowing reviews and rang them up, the advisor was chatty and promised 30 refund-able boxes would be sent and that everything would be fine — so we went with it, though I’ll admit I had a niggle at the back of my mind. That niggle didn’t so much go away as sulk in the corner and then come back dressed worse. On moving day two blokes arrived in a van that looked like it had been on a diet; nowhere near the size we were expecting for the amount of furniture we’d put aside. They spoke a bit of English, said another van was coming, and off they went taking photos, which I found odd but okay, I thought maybe they were checking logistics. Then they started refusing items. Apparently a marble table was too much, the king-size bed plus TV was ‘not standard’, garden furniture counted as a no-go, and the “special” boxes we’d bought — the ones with rails for suits — were suddenly a problem. None of this was mentioned when we booked, and the advisor certainly hadn’t explained any of those little caveats. I phoned back, ended up speaking to someone in the US who was less than helpful, and before I knew it we were being told to fork out an extra £500. Funny how the lads’ English improved when the money got mentioned. The promised second van never showed, so between them doing three trips and me hauling bits of my life down the stairs, what was meant to be a stress-free move became an endurance test. They didn’t dismantle and reassemble the beds like the adviser had agreed, and they literally dumped boxes on the first floor of a three-storey house — not ideal when you’re lugging stairs yourself. I’ve moved before with a small local firm who were brilliant, and I kept expecting that level of smoothness; sadly not here. There were a few moments I could laugh about it afterwards but at the time it was frustrating, messy and expensive. If you like surprises and extra charges, go for it; if you want clear info and things to go as promised, maybe think twice or double-check everything in writing.
Not for me, sadly
I wouldn’t use this company again. I went in hoping for a straightforward move and ended up feeling a bit trapped and annoyed. I needed help because I’m moving after months of bad back pain, so I wanted pros who’d actually take the awkward bits off my plate. That’s why I booked them — I can’t be lugging a lot myself, and I’d had a rubbish previous mover experience so I was extra cautious.
So, what happened. The first time I used them they mostly did the job fine but a few key things weren’t passed on to the driver, which meant he refused some items. I had to pay him cash to take a big plant and a couple of odd-shaped bits. Fine, I know cash on the day isn’t ideal but, whatever, it was awkward. I thought that was a one-off admin slip.
Cut to the second booking — same property, I’d made clear on the booking that access was tricky, and I assumed there’d be notes. No call beforehand, which annoyed me because they’re meant to ring to run through details. Half my stuff was already on the van when the driver suddenly said access meant an extra charge and that I had to pay over the phone before he’d load anything else. I was stuck; you can’t really cancel a house move halfway through. So I paid, and it almost doubled the cost. That was the kicker. If I’d known up front I’d have gone local and it would have been cheaper and less stressful.
I have to give some credit where it’s due — the actual driver was careful with my stuff, wrapped a few fragile bits I didn’t expect, and handled the heavy pieces better than I could have hoped, which did surprise me. It’s not the drivers I’ve got a problem with, it’s the company’s communication and billing. When I queried it later, customer service basically shrugged and pointed to the T&Cs, saying they don’t always call. That’s poor practice in my book.
All in all: decent folks on the van, but the business side felt sneaky and left me out of pocket. Wouldn’t recommend if you can’t risk last-minute charges or need clear, upfront pricing.Removal Northants to Norfolk
Absolute shambles of a Company. Given a price after a WhatsApp view of items to be transported but ended up £900 higher because the clowns that loaded at Northants were either given a different list or just plain thick as all the extra charged items were on the WhatsApp film. Refused to load the items until we paid the extra. This included loading beds but said we'd need to pay extra for the Duvet and Pillows!
Virtually threw the items into two Vans that looked like they had be reclaimed from a Scrap Yard. One of them was littered with Used Food Wrappers and other ... Never mind that, they still loaded on top of it. Damaged a Wall when reversing on to the drive and just threw empty water bottles onto the drive when leaving. All this after arriving 90 minutes late from pre-arranged time and with no apologies given.
On arrival in Norfolk they opened the Vans and the whole lot had shifted and countless items were then damaged or broken. They re-installed the main Bed incorrectly and dumped the missing parts they should have used on the bed afterwards. They also damaged the Bed. They literally loaded anything and everything on top of anything and everything in the Garage totally ignoring the "Fragile" clearly marked on the Boxes.
Have since contacted this horrendous excuse for a Company with Complaints but absolutely nobody takes control of the issues and deals with it.
They obviously use Sub-Contract Van Company's so will be hit and miss. This bunch of jerks were from Luton. I would recommend searching The One Show and Watchdog editions from 2021 before hiring them. I wish i Had. Steer clear and use a local trustworthy Company local to you.Removals
Nightmare. Avoid at all costs. The 2 men didnt have a clue ... roughly manhandled the furniture. From piece dropping off the wardrobe, to damaging front door entrance ... kitchen cupboard.Just toatl destruction lack of care or interest when told. The damage caused is probably £400 plus. Anyvan has offered £100. Disgraceful ... a joke. Refused the paltry offer ... have heard nothing.Please avoid at all costs.
Removal service
The removal company I used was absolutely brilliant. Booking directly was simple, although I did have a quick look online to check prices in advance. I really liked that they kept me informed about when they would pick up and drop off my things, it made organising my day much easier. Overall, the service was top-notch and very professional, which made moving a lot less stressful than if I had tried to do it all by myself. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for help with removals.
Settee transportation
I recently used AnyVan to move a sofa to my house and I have to say, it all went really well. From getting the initial quote to sorting out the pick-up and drop-off, everything was easy. I was kept in the loop at every step, which put my mind at ease. The van driver even phoned both the seller and me before arriving to confirm the time. I was really impressed by how well AnyVan and its staff communicated and handled everything. I would definitely use them again if needed.
Purchased garden furniture
I bought some garden furniture online recently and I have to say I was really impressed with the whole experience. I booked the delivery for Tuesday and got all the details via email, plus a great tracking service. The pick-up time was right on schedule at 9.01 am and the delivery happened at 9.20 am by a lovely and polite team. They took care of the furniture and made sure it arrived in perfect condition. I was really happy with the service and would definitely suggest it to others. I'll be using this service again for sure!
Motorcycle transport service
I recently used a motorcycle transport service and I have to say I was really impressed with how quick and professional they were. I had to get my son's motorbike from Southampton to London in a hurry, but AnyVan sorted it out for me without any hassle. They gave me all the details I needed about the driver, when they would pick up the bike, and the insurance, which made me feel at ease knowing everything was being taken care of properly.
The driver actually arrived earlier than expected on the day of the collection, and my son's bike was back home safe and sound by 11 am. I was so happy to see that it had arrived in perfect condition, thanks to being securely fastened in the van during transit.Booking and delivery service

I recently moved to a new city for my new job and needed a hand with transporting all my belongings. The driver was really friendly and the staff at the company were all lovely and very helpful. I used a moving van hire company today and it was really good! I was a bit hesitant to book online but it turned out to be very easy and fast. I've just had some sofas delivered from my parents' house to mine using a furniture delivery service. It's about 15 miles away. The driver, Aigars, was really polite and professional the whole time. Broken furniture, unprofessional service
I used a moving service recently to move some furniture, and I was really let down by the whole experience. The website said they were professional and well-prepared, but the driver turned up without any straps to keep the furniture secure. Consequently, the chest of drawers was rattling around in the van, which caused damage and knocked the frame out of place. To top it off, the driver even uploaded the wrong photos as evidence of delivery. When I got in touch with AnyVan about it, they denied any responsibility and wouldn't refund the booking fee. It was a total mess and really unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone needing to move their stuff.

I've used this company twice now and I must say, both times have been absolutely brilliant. In the past, I moved within London, and today I needed some stuff moved from Ealing to Norfolk. The driver, Sebastian, showed up on time, was really polite, and took great care of my things. I honestly can't fault them at all and would definitely recommend this service to anyone looking for a trustworthy moving company.
Delivery service experience
My recent experience with the delivery service was so disappointing. I had arranged for a morning delivery, but the driver didn't even set off until much later in the day. Because of this, my delivery was seriously delayed. The driver also got stuck in heavy traffic, which seems to happen a lot at that time of day. Even with all these problems, the company didn't bother to give me any updates or let me know about the delay, which I thought was really unprofessional and rude.
