the cover worked but the free toy never turned up. I bought my car insurance via a comparison site and checked their account page regularly. After almost three months they said the toy wouldn't be sent because I hadn't purchased through them. I had. I use the car daily for school runs and commuting, so it mattered. The policy itself was okay and their renewal reminders were oddly helpful, which was a small surprise. Still, I won't be using them again.
Small-grumble-about-a-gift
website throws an error, the app just asks to reload no matter how many times I reinstall, and an email form cleared itself so I never got a confirmation. I was pretty sceptical at first, fed up really, but the cover was straightforward and the price was decent, so I kept it. Still, their reward system and apps need sorting — decent policy, poor follow‑through.

If you care about price, pick up the phone.
Small plastic toy, big disappointment
water cover only applies to storm-related incidents. That was a bit of a punch, because how do you prove your neighbour’s gutter caused it? My elderly neighbour couldn’t help much — she’s 84 and struggling — which has made things awkward between us, which I hadn’t expected.
What I want to highlight is the clarity, once it finally came. It was begrudging clarity: policy limits and specific wording matter, and yes, they did tell me exactly why they weren’t paying. I’m still left with well over £5,000 of repair costs and a case closed by the intermediary, confused.com, who pretty much washed their hands. So, sceptical at first about online brokers, and sadly that scepticism was warranted. Having a policy is sensible for peace of mind, but read the small print and don’t assume “home cover” covers every kind of water damage.
