I wouldn’t normally leave a review this long, but in this case I think people need the full picture. We booked Bell Cottage in Winton, near Kirkby Stephen, for June 2026 and, honestly, I was doubtful about it almost as soon as we arrived. It’s an old cottage, which is fine by me — I’ve stayed in plenty of older places and usually love the character — but this felt less like “rustic” and more like it hadn’t had a proper deep clean for quite a while.
