when they do work they’re decent, and the price isn’t terrible. But the delivery timing and the support process need fixing. If they respond properly I’ll update, otherwise PayPal dispute is next on my to-do list.
Parcel drama with a decent ending
sitting at the kitchen table, cup gone cold, and suddenly relief. To rewind a touch, I’d ordered a handheld console before Christmas and the parcel never properly arrived — Evri showed it as delivered (it wasn’t), and after speaking to their support I had proof the parcel had been nicked. I emailed WhatGeek a stack of evidence. Their support team (based in China) were surprisingly good at English and initially said “refund”, which felt promising. Then it got messy: full refund turned into offers, then partials, then investigations. Classic faff. After a blunt review here and several weeks of back-and-forth they finally sorted the money — and quickly, once they decided to. That was the moment I thought, okay, they actually try; sincere, just a bit clumsy on refunds. Small surprise: their apology emails felt genuine, not canned. I’ve had worse run-arounds with a couple of UK firms, so this wasn’t the worst, just tiresome. Bottom line — good product route, decent people, but tighten up the refund process and save everyone the drama.
Broken button, slow replies and an awkward "solution"
“verifying urgently”, vague holiday excuses, then a “we’ll process it next week” promise that never materialised. Weeks drifted by, a lot of repetitive emails and little action. Out of the blue they offered to send a free mechanical keyboard instead of the cash. Problem is, I live in Turkey and importing a physical parcel now means hiring a customs agent and paying a hefty fee — I told them this several times, but they kept pushing the package option like they hadn’t listened. It felt like they were trying to avoid the bank transfer fee and just hoped I’d give up. I’ll say again: delivery of the original item was actually quick and the packaging was surprisingly tidy, which was a small surprise — but the customer service around the defect and refund was poor and drawn out. Mildly disappointed, honestly. It worked out in the end only because I refused the unsuitable offer and kept chasing, but I wouldn’t count on their warranty or refund process.
