no calls back, a couple of emails that said someone would be in touch, and then silence. It was frustrating, I kept having to explain the situation, and honestly I felt like I was being fobbed off. After about a week of calls and being promised escalations, someone finally picked up properly and started sorting things out. The delivery itself turned up on the right day in the end, and the team who arrived were decent and helpful — careful with my stuff and mindful of my back, which I really appreciated. Customer service was patchy on the phone and slow with follow-ups, but once a person actually took ownership they fixed it. So I'm relieved and a bit grateful it worked out, even if getting there was annoying. Would say improve the callback process and be clearer at booking, but overall the physical delivery and the crew were the saving grace.
Train-of-thought after the booking
the booking itself was easy and the price looked fair, so I made a reservation about six weeks ago. First impression was good — clean website, clear options, checkout was quick. I needed to move the dates later and rang them straight away; the first couple of people I spoke to were confident they could sort it. That’s where the small drama began. There was a mix-up with the hotel not having my updated details, and for a bit it felt like everyone was talking past each other. Annoying, yes, and I spent more time on the phone than I’d hoped. But here’s the thing — once I escalated it politely they actually dug in and fixed things: part refund plus a credit for future travel while the rest was sorted. It wasn’t slick, it wasn’t instant, and I chased them more than I wanted, but the end result worked for me and I appreciated the persistence. If you’re short on time or hate chasing customer service, be warned. If you can be patient, their prices and the final support make it worth a shot. Not perfect, but usable and I’d try them again.
Cheap on screen, costly in reality
that hold music — it became the soundtrack of my frustration. I told a couple of colleagues about it so they wouldn't fall into the same trap. There are moments where the site looks useful, and the search is quick, but if you need help afterwards, you’re on your own. I’d be cautious and double-check rates and small print next time.
A strange mix of relief and shock
I never imagined I’d be writing a review like this, but here we go. I was in a mess and needed answers. The whole thing felt awkward and raw at first. I found a service online and spoke to someone who said they could help me see messages I couldn’t otherwise get to. It felt odd paying for this, then strangely comforting when things started to make sense. Using the service didn’t involve any techy stuff for me — they handled the tricky side and I just got the results. That part was a relief; I’m not good with gadgets. What stood out was how quickly I could check the conversations and how clear everything looked. It wasn’t flashy. It was just there, readable, plain and simple. I sat with a cup of tea and scrolled through chats that made me feel a lot of things. Sad, angry, but also relieved that I knew where I stood. I printed some of it too, for my own headspace. If you’re in a similar spot, I’d say be careful, think it through, but if you need clarity this kind of help can actually calm the guessing. My only tip would be to be ready emotionally — the info hits hard. Overall, I’m glad I got the answers. It gave me something solid to work with and helped me decide what to do next.
Not the five-star welcome we expected
rubbish bins not emptied, a nearly full conditioner bottle left on the sink area and used loo roll tucked underneath — little things, but they add up and make the whole room feel unprepared. My sister hopped in the shower and realised there was no shampoo, only conditioner and body wash, which was odd. Surely that’s the sort of thing housekeeping checks before a new guest arrives? It gave a sloppy first impression that stayed with us.
The practical annoyances kept coming. The two lifts are tiny and slow, so most of the time we ended up using the stairs because waiting felt like a waste of time. It’s funny, staff seemed to sprint past on the stairs as well, like they don’t bother with the lifts either. One major worry for us was how many members of staff went maskless around the hotel — especially in the lifts and corridors. If you’re cautious about Covid, it’s unsettling to see that level of nonchalance in close spaces.
Breakfast had the self-service setup and a couple of mornings I spotted dirty plates and cups left by previous guests — not the hygiene standard I expected given the price tag. We put up with the blemishes for three nights, thinking small hotels slip up, but then the real problem hit on our last day. We’d booked a triple and from day one the bathroom floor flooded after a shower. On check-in day three we were told we’d have to move to a twin while they “fix the leak”, and that they’d add an extra bed. Sounds simple, right? It wasn’t. We reminded reception at 1pm, came back that night to no extra bed, called reception, went down, were promised again it’d be sorted in ten minutes — repeatedly. By 11.10pm we were told bluntly there were no spare beds and the only option was a sofa, despite having paid for three proper beds. After a lot of back-and-forth and frustration we ended up with a thin mattress on the floor for the third person. It’s an avoidable failure of basic service. There were bits I liked — location was handy and some staff were helpful — but overall the stay felt undercooked for the category and price.A slow, sensible recovery — the moment it clicked
I use social media to keep in touch with family, I do most of my banking online, I need access for work updates — so losing that felt like losing part of how I manage the week. Small practical things, mostly.
Hotel bookings
I've been using Trivago to book hotels for years, and I have to say, it's always come through for me. The prices I find on there are consistently better than other popular sites, but without compromising on quality. So, I definitely suggest giving Trivago a look before you confirm your hotel booking.
Hotel booking through Trivago
I recently used Trivago to book a hotel and ended up on the Algotel website to finalise the booking. Although I didn't get a confirmation from Algotel, our reservation was indeed in place when I rang the hotel to make sure. Everything turned out fine in the end, but it was a bit unnerving not getting that confirmation from the booking site.
Hotel booking with misleading listing
Recently, I had a bit of a nightmare trying to book a hotel through one of those fancy travel websites. I was after a spot in Madrid, and had my eye on the Niza Hotel. It was supposed to be just 3 miles from the city centre, which sounded perfect to me. But when I clicked on the 'View Deal' button, I got sent to a totally different Niza Hotel in Gandia, which is nowhere near Madrid – it's actually by the coast, hundreds of kilometers away. What a waste of time! It left me proper confused and in a pickle.
Hotel booking experience
My mum booked us a hotel through this website and I was buzzing for our holiday. But when we got to the hotel, we realised that breakfast wasn't included in the price! Adding it on there and then was so pricey, which was a massive disappointment. I was so excited for a nice brekkie every day but ended up having to fork out more money we hadn't budgeted for. Total let down!
Misleading pricing
The prices you see on Trivago aren't actually the final price you'll have to fork out. When you go to book, they slap on extra taxes and fees, which can be a bit sneaky for folks trying to snag the best deal. It's not really fair on customers trying to make a smart choice when both Trivago and the booking site pull this trick.
Hotel Booking Scam
I made a mistake by booking a hotel room through a link that Trivago recommended. It turned out that I was scammed by the company Algotels. They not only took money from my credit card but also didn't give me the hotel room I thought I had booked. This whole situation has left me feeling really frustrated and tricked. Trivago needs to own up to promoting unethical businesses like Algotels and should definitely blacklist them to keep their customers safe from scams like this in the future.
Hotel booking
I was really disappointed with booking a hotel through this service. I had heard great stuff about it, but the actual experience was far below my expectations. Despite all the promises of amazing deals, I discovered that booking directly with the hotel would have actually saved me £200. The ads are definitely deceptive, so I won't be using this service again.
Accommodation booking
Booking accommodation through this platform was absolutely brilliant. It was so easy to use, I found a fantastic deal for where I wanted to stay. The customer support was also really great, they answered all my questions quickly. Honestly, I couldn't have asked for a better experience booking accommodation.
Hotel booking for a party
I'm never going to use this platform again. I booked a hotel room for a party on Saturday 20th July, but then I saw that the date was wrong on the booking confirmation. I tried to sort it out, but the customer service wasn't helpful at all. In the end, I had to book directly with the hotel and got a lower price.
London hotel booking on Trivago
Be careful when using this platform for hotel bookings, guys! I tried booking a hotel in London but my payment was declined because of a "High Risk" payee situation. I had to book somewhere else at a higher price. Turns out, the second choice was a scam! The whole ordering process was a nightmare, the service was not great, the prices were way too high, and in the end, the hotel I booked never materialised. Stick to reliable sources and avoid this dodgy business at all costs.
Misleading listing
I've had enough of these affiliate listings that make false claims. It's ridiculous to see a closed pub advertised for breakfast and leather armchairs. This has got to stop.
Overpriced accommodation
The price for a basic room with only a bed was way too high at £115 for just one night. It's ridiculous to ask for over a hundred quid for a simple overnight stay. It's disappointing that they don't seem to grasp fair pricing during a time when hospitality businesses should be more thoughtful. The demands for this kind of pricing are just too much, especially given the current situation.
Disappointed with Trivago
I used to swear by Trivago for getting the best hotel deals, but now I'm not so sure. I booked a room through Roomdi, a site they recommended, and it was a total disaster. There was no way to contact Roomdi after booking - their phone number was useless, and they didn't even have an email address! All I received was a message saying they were working on my booking, which left me feeling completely lost. When I tried reaching out to Trivago for help, all they did was direct me to X and Facebook - what a joke! They didn't even bother giving me Roomdi's email address! It took ages for Roomdi to finally reply, and even then, they couldn't get Roomdi to respond. It was a real mess. Trivago really let me down this time, so I won't be using them again.
Sunday lunch at a pub in Llanelli
I had a lovely Sunday lunch at a delightful pub in Llanelli recently, which has become a favourite spot for me and my friends. The menu has some really tasty meats like beef, pork, and turkey, all cooked perfectly. The vegetables are always delicious and served nice and hot, which makes the whole dining experience even better. The staff, especially Holly, are really friendly and attentive, which adds to the enjoyment of the visit.
