    Prescription Glasses

Needed new glasses with a test coming up mid January, so tried Smartbuyglasses in November expecting them to arrive in early December. The saving wasn't huge from High Street, but I have bought online from other companies before and received excellent service.

The website was OK, but not as easy to use as their competitors. The site kept forgetting the frames, when you went onto lenses, so you had to keep going back. In the end, the frames ordered were wrong by one digit, which meant they were not the frames I had chosen. Website issue could be resolved, and maybe making codes or names of glasses clearer so you notice the difference between 4IV & 4NV in the small print easily when repeatedly having to re search and reselect your frames.....you are, after all ordering GLASSES!

The glasses arrived in 3 weeks, which is comparable to high street. They gave regular updates, which was fine. The Frames I immediately noted were similar, but not the same ( I was expecting the frames I had chosen) - but would do, I could live with them. The prescription was close, but eyes tired quickly and I could not read at all. Text had to be over a metre away, and small print was impossible. I kept on with it for 10 days to get used to it. I suffered eye strain, and migraines. Out of curiosity, I looked through the lenses the wrong way - with the arms pointing outwards, I had this notion, that as my distance sight was close, was it possible they have the lenses back to front.....and I could see clearly.

I contacted customer service, they were not fast but tried to be helpful, but you had to endure the normal assumption that you are ... and have to get used to them, I have had varifocals for many years and know how they work. I have waited for experts, taken photos, had the way I wear them judged and told to wear them at a different angle and i have been passed from pillar to post and have today been asked to take a photo of the cx, (I don't know either. No explantion, looked like internal mail copied and pasted with no sender) and been told that as distance prescription is close, the stronger eye would get weaker and fit the prescription. I am no optician, but waiting for the lense to damage the sight enough to work in the stronger eye, would still leave the weaker eye with a lens too weak, and straining? Just seems a sensible assumption, that if one lens is too strong, the other is too weak.

So here we are 3 weeks down the line, still being asked for photos, jumping through hoops and battling excuses. My test date is looming and I will likely lose what I have spent on that, and I cannot return to work having been sent home with eye strain.

I have asked them one final time to come to a resolution. I have told them I will write honest and frank reviews of my experiences whilst I wait as I cannot work and am bored of being fobbed off.

It looks as if I will have to use a Section 75 from the card company and throw this junk in the bin. I feel hugely disappointed and regret dealing with this company. This may change, but reflects how I feel right now, after over a dozen emails and requests for support.
