Avoid this company like the plague! Their business conduct is, without a doubt, fraudulent. Needed a plumber to come and look at a leak outside my property but explained on numerous occasions to Hometree that there is access issues. Was explicitly clear on this matter and stated that I did not want to pay the £60 excess if the plumber was not going to be able to do the job. Also sent photos and video footage directly to the plumber due to visit my property, showing the access issues. Both Hometree and the plumber insisted on visiting the property KNOWING they would not be able to fulfil the job. The plumber was at my property for 5 minutes maximum, on a day that he was not supposed to arrive, which meant my husband had to dash home from work and as anticipated, the plumber could not complete the work. Hometree are now refusing to refund us the £60 excess which directly breaches the Consumer Rights act 2015, which requires services to be carried out with reasonable care and skill and the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 which prohibit charging for services that cannot be reasonably delivered.
This cowboy company took my money knowing full well that they had zero intention of providing the service I pay for. And unless a full refund of £60 is issued within 14 days, this will be taken to the Financial Ombudsman and Trading Standards. Rest assured, I will not stop until this issue is resolved.
