    I’d signed up a few months earlier and was halfway through the course when I decided to finish early and paid my balance — roughly £500; a week later a direct debit went out anyway, which annoyed me. At first I thought it was a simple glitch, I rang them with proof. That turned into being bounced between them and their partner, both saying the other hadn’t received anything. The worst bit was the lack of coordination and communication. Oddly, an automated receipt arrived later that proved my payment. First impression was fine, but after this, not impressed.

    Mid-course doubts confirmed

    wrong figures, typos and exam questions that didn't make sense. I moved into separate bookkeeping and payroll courses hoping for better, but ran into the same careless mistakes and no support. My exams have sat unmarked for five months despite chasing — exhausting, as fun as a tax audit. I've filed a formal complaint and I'm pausing my studies; relieved it's on record, but not happy overall.

    Unexpectedly helpful support

    Andrew Stean and Catherine Deaville were straightforward and actually responsive, not corporate-speak. They even phoned once when I was behind, which was a surprise, and they were flexible about deadlines because of personal stuff. There's a bit of clunky admin here and there, but honestly the human support kept me going.

    Good course, shaky delivery

    I remember cracking open the first module on a slow Sunday a few months back. The material itself is actually really decent — detailed and proper useful, so that was a nice surprise. But the delivery side and support let it down. One module wants roughly 6,400 words in three weeks and there’s a heap of extra reading (about another 100 pages) — doable if you’ve endless time, but the deadlines feel unrealistic. To be fair the lessons are good, but I’ve had two other courses with the same provider where tutor contact was patchy and communication poor, so I couldn’t finish them and ended up out of pocket (around £3k). Bit frustrating.

    Missold and messy

    I still remember seeing their ad on Facebook and my mate even said it looked legit, so I signed up three years ago. Within a few days I realised the course on my paperwork wasn’t the one I’d asked for. I hadn’t even started classes, so I asked to cancel and they suddenly quoted me £1,910.50 — which felt absurd. One adviser told me if I paid half I could switch courses, so I went back and forth and eventually someone said they wouldn’t pursue the charge. That was the end of it, or so I thought. Now, three years later, there’s a court action on my door. The frustrating bit is the adviser’s promise — that felt honest in the moment, but it didn’t hold. I’m annoyed and wary; maybe useful if you’re recommended it, but check everything twice.

    Waiting more than learning

    I remember thinking this would be straightforward, but it turned into a bit of a saga. We signed my daughter up last July for a level 3 distance diploma because she can’t manage a campus course (disabilities, mobility and all that). They’d talked up live, interactive classes — which largely never turned up — so from the start it felt a bit off. Marking dragged on for weeks and weeks; then in December we were told the old course was being scrapped and she’d be moved onto a “new and improved” one, with all previous work wiped. She started the replacement in January and has been stuck ever since on one module. It was submitted over four weeks ago, we called a few times, got shuffled between people (seems Learndirect has taken over parts of it) and there was no tutor feedback, so she didn’t know if she was even doing things right. It was frustrating, especially after paying over £2000 — felt like poor customer care more than anything. In the end that missing module was marked after about four weeks, so things did get resolved, but only after a lot of chasing and doubt.

    Not what I signed up for

    messages saying someone would call, then nothing. The tutor eventually replied by the online text thing, but replies took days or weeks and there was no proper phone call or real-time video session as promised. I paid in full straight away (stupidly, maybe), and after a while you do start to feel like once they’ve got the money you’re not important. I’ve had good and bad experiences with other companies, and this felt like one of the worse ones for communication. On the plus side, there was a tiny bit of contact eventually — one short video slot offered after persistent chasing — so I’m somewhat relieved it wasn’t completely ignored. I’m recently out of remission, so I’d hoped for more help and a bit more kindness, and that’s what hurt most. Overall I’m grateful it didn’t get worse, but I’m left disappointed by the lack of promised delivery and proper customer service. If you expect regular phone calls and real one-to-one tuition, don’t bank on it without relentless follow-up.

    Level 2 Counselling course

    I really enjoyed doing the Level 2 Counselling course online. The course material was well laid out and easy to follow, which made it really straightforward to understand and finish the assignments. My tutor was brilliant and gave me lots of help and support along the way. Once I finished the course, I got my NCFE CACHE certificate quickly and now it's up on my wall for everyone to see. All in all, I had a fantastic learning experience with this provider.

    I got some really great help from the college staff when I was signing up for my course and dealing with the payment stuff. The course itself is really well-organised and interesting, teaching me a lot of useful things. My tutor, Jill Edwards, was amazing - really helpful and nice when giving me feedback on my work.     I was really happy with the speedy and useful feedback I got from Tutor Jack Vaughan on my first unit. His tips on how to make my answers better were really helpful, and I'm gaining a lot from his advice. But, I'm having some technical problems with the platform, like my work not saving and questions popping up randomly, which is annoying for me and the tutors. I hope these problems get sorted out soon so we can all have a better learning experience.

    I recently finished two courses online with Stonebridge College, one a while back and the other just a couple of weeks ago. I've done all the work needed and paid up, and now I've been waiting eagerly for my certificates to arrive. But despite getting in touch with customer service three times to ask about what's going on, I've not been given a clear answer or a solution. Every time I call, they give me a different excuse, and it's starting to get really annoying.

    I've done a lot of courses at this college. My tutor, Alison Brown, is absolutely brilliant! She's always there to help me and make sure I'm staying on top of things. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to study. They offer a wide range of courses and you can work at a pace that suits you. It's definitely a five-star experience all round! 🌟

    Enrolled in functional skills level 2

    I signed up for functional skills level 2 maths and English at Stonebridge College. Getting enrolled was easy peasy, but that's where the good stuff ended. Nobody told me how long the course would last, and no one got in touch with me the whole time. When I tried to book an assessment before the exam, I was told the course was already done and dusted. I felt like I threw away £800 for nothing. The complete lack of communication and support from the college left me feeling really let down and annoyed.
