exciting experience shopping from Hayley
I belong to so many social networks online but none gave me that feel of friendship that i wanted. I wanted people who shared what I share and who have same interest as me. after some search online and going through options I found, I decided to sign up with meet up. Meetup is an online service used to organize online groups where people with similar interests can host in-person events for themselves. I must say I love the website and I am happy with their services as I have benefitted a whole lot from it. I get to meet awesome people in the group which is made up of over 30 categories. I recommend Meetup to anyone looking to join groups that share same interest as they do.
Issue with visibility
Meetup has really let me down with their customer service. I told them about a big problem with my events not being visible over two weeks ago, but I haven't heard anything back. I haven't even received a simple acknowledgment! Because of this lack of communication, my group has been negatively affected, leading to lost money and disappointed members. If Meetup can't deal with a simple issue like this, why should I keep paying for their services? It's so frustrating and not okay.
Meetup subscription
Hey, just a heads up, you might wanna reconsider signing up for this online event platform. These dodgy scammers will try to take advantage of you quicker than you can say "unsubscribe." I made the mistake of giving them my payment details, only to realise they'd automatically renew my subscription without asking me. And if you try to contact customer service for assistance? Well, good luck with that, because they conveniently ignore your emails. Take my advice, save yourself the hassle and stay away from this shady company.
Experience as a customer
I really like the idea of Meetup as a place where people with similar interests can come together and do things. But I've been feeling a bit let down by them lately. They seem to be more focused on making money rather than helping people connect. It's not fair that they're now charging non-organisers when they already make a lot from organisers. And making us pay to see who's coming to events just doesn't sit right with me. It's not just about the money, it's about the community and feeling safe. Plus, it might even be a breach of privacy laws. I'm really upset about all this, especially because of the friends I've made through Meetup.
Credit Card Alert
I must warn you, please do NOT enter your credit card details on this platform. Cancelling your subscription is an absolute nightmare and it seems like they deliberately make it tricky for you. I attempted to cancel my subscription by emailing support as they instructed, but they just kept asking for specific wording in order to cancel. Despite my efforts, they still charged me even after I believed I had cancelled. My only choice now is to cancel my credit card to prevent any further charges. I strongly advise steering clear of this unreliable company!
Free activity listings
I've had a bit of a rough time with the software on this platform. I've been a member for more than five years now, and I've come across quite a few problems with how it works. Meetup says they provide free access to their site, but in truth, they make activity leaders pay and constantly hit users with ads. The new "Meetup+" has made it really hard to check out any activities without being pushed to upgrade to a paid subscription. It looks like they're getting rid of the free version of the site altogether, which is a real shame for those of us who used it to discover cool things to do.
Untrustworthy and scammy company
I've had a really bad experience with Meetup. It seems like they are only interested in making money and don't care about their users at all. A few years ago, I cancelled my free trial but recently discovered that they've been charging me without my permission. When I finally decided to cancel for good, they threatened to shut down my group. It's just not right how sneaky and dishonest Meetup is.
Community group website
I was really let down by the Meetup website. I run a local community group and rely on it, so I was expecting it to work well. But, I found that the website had a lot of errors, which made setting up events really slow and annoying. Notifications were late, which caused confusion among group members. The new features like AI-generated event suggestions and the 24-hour "Make connections" thing were just not needed in my opinion. I don't care about them because they don't make the basic service any better. Meetup should focus on fixing the main problems first before adding stuff we don't need.
User experience frustration
The mobile app and website are a bit of a mess right now. It's really hard to use because there are loads of glitches and the user interface is not great overall. The search for groups and events is especially bad and not very helpful. The old version was way better and easier to use. It's really annoying trying to find information on the platform, especially when you're in new places.
Meetup membership
Oh my goodness, I just can't believe how awful the customer service is at this Meetup place! I've been trying for ages to figure out why I'm not receiving all my notifications, but no one there has been able to assist me at all. I've gone through all my settings and made sure everything is ticked off, but still no success. I always thought customer service was supposed to be helpful, but not at this place, it seems.
Toastmasters club promotion
Meeting up has really helped our Toastmasters club a lot, getting the word out and sharing our meetings with more people. But things started going downhill on 6th April 2024 when the new owners, Bending Spoons, said that anyone who wasn't already on Meetup had to sign up just to see our main info, past meetings, and member comments. It's made it harder for us to bring in new members because most folks aren't keen on joining a site just to have a look around. It's not a great move and reminds us of mistakes made in the past by other platforms. If Bending Spoons doesn't sort this out, lots of us might decide against renewing our subscription down the line.
meetup app review
The meetup app is a complete disaster - the login is a nightmare, the fees are way too high, and the events are not great. I went to a singles event that was so badly organised, it felt like a waste of time. The people at these meetups are often awkward and it's hard to have a meaningful conversation. Just save yourself the hassle and go out alone or with a friend instead.
