We went because my dad has bad hips and I thought a quiet cafe would be easy — wrong. Empty room yet they make older people wander for a buzzer, wait half an hour; it felt like they wanted to avoid serving. Not enough staff, staff even turned people away. Food was fine, nothing special, but I won't risk it again for someone with mobility issues.
Quiet management, mixed delivery
I popped in after ordering online, and the delivery was slow and a bit messy, packaging okay but timing off. Customer service was worse, no response to my messages about in-store temperature and staff conditions, which felt odd given other firms usually reply, even briefly. Not perfect, the plant stock was fine and prices reasonable, but the silence from management stands out. Won't rush back until they actually answer queries, but it does work for basic purchases.
Dogs at the table, cakes saved the day
The poodle parade at the back of the café caught me off guard this morning — there’s a doggy corner but some people still plonk dogs on their laps or at the tables and fetch teaspoons and napkins to feed them. I pop in most days for a quick coffee and cake on my lunch break, so I noticed. Kind of gross, not going to lie, but the tea cakes were lovely and actually saved my day, so I'm glad it turned out okay. They should stop feeding dogs at tables though.
Loo gripe but worth a return
we’ll be back, but please sort the loos. The soft‑ball area is brilliant for kids — they ran riot and loved it — and the shop has loads of stuff, really good selection. The café food was fine, bit like school dinners, nothing fancy but edible and fairly priced (except a slice of cake at £4.50 which felt steep). Now the bad bit: the toilets were awful, no loo roll, no hand towels, some things not working and there was a lingering smell. Awkward with small kids, you worry who’s using them. I was sceptical at first, but overall a nice place; just do regular checks, please. Would recommend if they fix that one thing.
Too hot to browse comfortably
I went in because we’re moving and needed some shrubs and bits for the new garden, and with a dodgy lower back I was planning to potter slowly and sit if needed. The centre itself is great, huge choice and the plants looked healthy — I actually enjoyed wandering round, even if I kept wiping my forehead. It was just far too warm indoors, made the whole visit a bit of a slog. We ate in the café by the door to cool off (dog with us) and afterwards a member of staff told us we shouldn’t have sat there with the dog. No signs, no heads-up. Thoughtful on selection, not so much on comfort or clear rules.
Almost didn't go, glad I did
the sandwiches and pastries were genuinely excellent, fresher than I thought they'd be, and everything was packed up neatly. So, service could definitely be friendlier, but the quality and the quick turnaround made me change my mind a bit. I'll go again — just with the assumption they won't be chatty, but hopeful they'll keep the food this good.
Unexpected help on a soggy Monday
I also tried both cafés and the soft play in the centre in the last few weeks. The food was nice, a touch pricey but acceptable. Soft play kept the child entertained. Overall I think the place deserves more people like Colby. Small acts stick with you. Felt genuinely grateful, and I'll be back — probably for the cake more than the soil next time. I really mean it.
Sun‑trap shop, lovely finds but roasting inside
go on a cool day or after they fix the heat, and you’ll enjoy it.
Late lunch gone wrong
It was about 2.50pm on a Saturday and I was out with my relative who’s registered blind. I often take them for a quiet late lunch, so we turned up expecting a simple sit-down. The blackboard menu was out front but my relative couldn’t read it, so we asked for a physical menu and someone brought one over, which was helpful — that part was fine. We picked our meals and I joined the slow-moving queue. Then, as we got nearer the till, a kitchen member came out and announced, quite loudly, “the kitchen is closed — closed at 3, but there is cake and coffee.” No apology, no sign anywhere, nothing on the menu to warn us, and the website had said 4pm. That mismatch is the real issue for me. It felt thoughtless given my relative’s needs; a simple sign or a quick mention when the menu was handed over would have saved time and awkwardness. We left and found somewhere nicer nearby. The cakes looked okay and the staff weren’t rude, but the lack of clear opening times and the abrupt closure spoiled the visit. Would come back if they sorted that out, but for now I’d be cautious.
Quietly disappointing visit
that could have been easier. The place itself has a decent selection — pots, compost, the bits you expect — but my first impression was slowed down by a long queue and staff who didn’t seem sure about what they were selling. I asked about a well-known variety and got blank faces (yes, really). The detail that stuck with me was one of the till staff: long hair, unkempt, and smelling strongly of booze — it made the whole checkout awkward and I remember it more than I should. I also had to return a damaged item on a subsequent visit; I joined a big queue, then was told to go to another till by the same person, so I ended up waiting again. Not great organisation. On the plus side, the plants themselves were fine and prices were reasonable — not special, but fair — and once you get served things work as expected. Cafe looked tired compared with other local options. So, not all bad, but the customer-facing side needs sorting: clearer staff training and maybe a cleaner-smelling till person would help. I’ll probably try somewhere else next time unless they improve.
£213 garden chair purchase
I bought a £213 garden chair from the garden centre, but had a bad time with their delivery service. I got a confirmation saying my order was sent, but then heard nothing from the courier. I tried to contact their customer service over email and Instant Chat, but didn't get any replies. The courier they used, DX, didn't seem reliable and their website was no good. In the end, I felt like I'd been tricked and let down by the garden centre's lack of communication and help.
Plant pots and gardening tools
I'm a frequent visitor to the garden centre and I've always loved the variety of plant pots and gardening tools they have on offer. The products are top-notch and the staff are really helpful and clued up when it comes to suggesting the best tools for my garden.
Plants
So, I went to this garden centre with my mum and I was really looking forward to getting some cool plants for my room. But when we arrived, it was just like a normal shop with hardly any plants! There were more random items than plants, which was a bit disappointing. I mean, I'm not exactly searching for dishwasher tablets when I want to buy some plants, am I?
Plants for my garden
As a customer of the garden centre, I was really let down by the delivery service used by the company. I got a notification saying my parcel had been delivered by DX, but when I got home, it wasn't there. It was so annoying to think the delivery had been done but my parcel wasn't anywhere to be seen. This whole thing has made me think poorly of the company and has put me off buying anything from them again.
Plant pots and tools
The products at this garden centre have gone downhill. The plant pots are all scuffed up and the tools feel really flimsy. It's such a shame to see the quality of things they're selling getting worse like this.
Garden trellis and posts
I popped over to the garden centre the other day to pick up some new garden trellis and posts. The service I got was top-notch. Ed, one of the staff members, was super helpful and really went the extra mile to make sure I got exactly what I needed. He even sorted out the delivery and made sure everything was spot on. The following day, when I realised I needed more posts, Ed was right there to help me out. The delivery was quick, and the whole team, Ed included, were really friendly and efficient. Even when there was a small problem with one of the posts, Ed went above and beyond to find a replacement from another shop and brought it over to my place himself. I was really impressed with how well Ed and the whole team at the garden centre looked after me.
Plants and gardening supplies
I was really disappointed with my visit to the garden centre recently. The staff were so unhelpful and downright rude, not bothering to help customers at all. On top of that, the prices were really high, which made it hard to buy anything. The whole atmosphere was just off, with no sense of friendliness or customer care. I definitely won't be going back there anytime soon.
Visit to Cherry Lane Garden Centres
I had a lovely time at Cherry Lane Garden Centres recently with my granddaughters, Annaleigh and Harriett. We met Father Christmas who was really kind and spent time with the girls, chatting and even singing a song with us. The elf Molly also read a Christmas story to the children, which added to the magical experience. Father Christmas talked with the girls about Christmas Day, the reindeers, and let us take photos with him before giving the girls a gift. It was a really thoughtful and special visit.
New plant pots
I recently got these new plant pots from a store and guess what, the packaging was all torn up when they got to me. And to add to that, some of the pots were cracked! On top of all that, the cost was way too steep for such poor quality.
Plants, pots, customer service
I went to the garden centre and was really impressed by the fantastic customer service I got from all the staff I spoke to. They were so helpful, giving me advice on plants and even helping me carry heavy pots. It was so nice to see how much they cared about their customers. Apparently, there's a new manager in charge, so big props to them for leading the team so well.
