    Snowboarding holiday to Austria solo

    I recently went snowboarding on my own in Austria and Sun Web made the whole experience really straightforward. The communication was brilliant and their app was so handy, giving me all the info I needed. And to top it off, the ski pass was actually free! I had such a great time that I would definitely recommend Sun Web based on my fantastic experience.

    Last-minute family ski holiday to Flaine, France

    We decided to have a last-minute family ski trip to Flaine, France just a week before we were due to leave. Our package didn't include transfers because we booked so late, but we managed to easily organise private transfers online. The place we stayed at, Les Terrasses d'Eos, was brilliant. The kids loved the outdoor heated pool and the fresh bakery deliveries every morning. It was a shame that we couldn't do ski in/ski out due to a lift closure, but they provided extra ski buses to make up for it. Getting our ski and snowboard gear was quick and easy, and picking up lift passes at Grand Platiers Station was a breeze. Our flights with Jet 2 from Leeds/Bradford to Geneva went really well with no problems at all. The Sunweb representative got in touch with us on WhatsApp to check everything was going smoothly and were always quick to respond to any queries we had. Overall, it was a fantastic trip and we wouldn't think twice about booking with them again.

    Ski holiday booking experience

    The whole booking process went really smoothly, sorting out our flights, transfers, and even getting into our accommodation late at night. Our place to stay was right in the town centre, which was super handy for reaching all the things we wanted - like getting fresh pastries in the morning or heading out to bars and restaurants at night. Plus, it was great having ski shops and the ski bus close by. We thought about walking up to Super Chatel, but actually found better skiing up the valley, so we just caught the bus every day. And when we got to our accommodation, we were pleasantly surprised - it was bigger than we thought, really clean, and had everything we needed. I wasn't sure about the value of a cheaper ski holiday, but it turned out to be even better than I expected in every way.

    Ski holiday package at a hotel in Flachau

    I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised when I decided to book my ski holiday with this company. I hadn't heard of them before, but they really impressed me. They had packages available at the hotel I wanted in Flachau, and when there was a problem with my booking, they resolved it quickly and efficiently without any hassle.     Ski holiday booking

    I had a really bad experience booking a skiing holiday recently. It was my second time using this service, and it didn't meet my expectations at all. Everything was going well until the very last day of our trip, when we were suddenly made to leave our hotel at 9 am, even though our transfer wasn't until 4 pm. I couldn't even get in touch with anyone from the company - none of the numbers worked and the emergency line was useless. They had the nerve to tell us to call back on Monday when it was only Saturday! Their customer service and communication were just terrible. I was left feeling frustrated and abandoned, wondering if I'd ever use their service again.

    Ski holiday booking process

    As a keen skier, I'm always on the lookout for good deals on ski trips. Recently, I booked a ski holiday with Sunweb and I have to say, I was really impressed with the whole experience. The booking process was really simple and easy, and I managed to find a package that gave great value for money. One of the best parts for me was that ski lift passes were included in the package, and they were ready and waiting for us when we arrived at the resort. This saved us loads of time and hassle, so we could get straight out onto the slopes. Plus, we received all the necessary documents and information well in advance, which made everything run smoothly and stress-free. The hotel we stayed at was absolutely fantastic, and it made our ski holiday even more enjoyable. I will definitely be booking with Sunweb again in the future.

    Ski holiday purchase

    My recent ski trip was brilliant thanks to Sunweb's amazing service. But, there was one little hiccup that caused a bit of bother. Despite everything else running smoothly, having to trek to a far-off spot to get our lift passes on the first day was a bit of a pain. It nearly made us late for our ski lesson and created some unnecessary stress. It would be really helpful if Sunweb could sort this out by letting us pick up passes at the ski office in the resort or have them delivered to our hotel. It'd make things a lot easier for us customers.

    I booked a ski holiday through this company recently and I have to say, the whole process was a breeze. They explained everything clearly and I didn't encounter any problems at all.     Ski holiday accommodation review

    The ski holiday accommodation we booked turned out to be quite disappointing. Firstly, soap was missing in the apartment which made it tricky to keep clean, especially during this Covid-19 pandemic. The place wasn't kept very clean, with dirty stairs and a boot room that was in a bit of a state. It looked like the place hadn't been looked after for a while, definitely lacking some TLC with no proper maintenance or cleaning in quite some time. The food options, despite being advertised as all-inclusive, were pretty limited and not very exciting. Breakfast was alright but got a bit repetitive, and dinner portions were fixed so no seconds, unfortunately. The apres-ski snack wasn't great and was only available for a short time, leaving many hungry guests feeling a bit let down. Also, those promised pizza nights never happened, the staff said they had run out, which left a lot of guests feeling pretty disappointed about the misleading information. All in all, our experience at this ski accommodation was quite underwhelming and definitely put a dampener on our holiday.

    Booking a ski holiday with this company turned out to be a huge mistake this winter. When I arrived at my self-catering apartment, I was so surprised to discover that there wasn't a reception available. I had to walk a whole 15 minutes up the hill to the letting agency's office to pick up the key and trudge all the way back down with all my luggage. Not exactly the ideal way to start my holiday, to be honest. And that wasn't even the end of it - when I had to leave in the early hours of the morning, I had to make that same journey all over again in heavy snow just to return the key and drop off the used bed linen. It was completely unacceptable and just added so much unnecessary stress to my trip.

    Ski trip with free ski passes

    Getting those free ski passes was a game-changer for us, it meant we could hit the slopes more without worrying about extra costs. We decided to go for Sunday flights this time, rather than our usual Saturday ones, and it definitely made things a lot less hectic. Sorting out our own transfers from Geneva to Flaine gave us the freedom to plan our time in a way that suited us. Our flights with Jet2 were a breeze, smooth sailing from check-in to landing. The only little hiccup was trying to work out that the return check-in was in Terminal 2 - turned out to be a Jet2 thing. The reps in the resort were really helpful and gave us loads of info without trying to push any extra bits on us, which was a nice change from other ski trips we've been on. I've even signed up for email alerts so I know when I can book my next holiday - that's how much I loved it!

    European Gay Ski Week in Val Thorens

    I recently booked a week in Val Thorens, France, to attend the European Gay Ski Week (EGSW). The event itself was pretty fun and the activities kept us entertained. However, we ran into some issues with the services and events that were meant to be included in the pricey event pass we bought. You see, some events like Fondue and Raclette nights got cancelled when we got there, and others just didn't happen as advertised. The website said we'd get discounts on food and drink at partner places with our passes, but we were disappointed to find out that none of the venues actually offered those discounts. Plus, drinks cost more than we expected at the official EGSW events on certain days. We were supposed to get discounts at restaurants with the EGSW logo, but the place we went to didn't honour that. And we couldn't get into one of the events because they sold too many tickets, even though we were promised free entry to everything. We tried talking to Sunweb about getting a refund, but they basically told us tough luck and that we should've said something while we were there.

    Ski trip organization

    The ski trip we went on was absolutely fantastic. They had everything sorted out perfectly, from sorting out bookings to where we stayed and how we got around - it was all so easy. The people there were lovely and really helpful, which made the whole trip even better. The only thing that let it down was the food at the hotel. It was a bit below par and definitely didn't live up to our expectations. It was a shame because everything else was great.

    This was my first time booking a ski holiday with the company and I have to say, I was really impressed with the overall experience. Booking was easy and the accommodation information provided was detailed, making everything run smoothly. The resort location was perfect and the facilities, while basic, were enough for a comfortable stay.     4 room apartment (3 bedrooms)

    Customers need to get what they pay for when it comes to accommodation. Sadly, our experience with this company fell short. We thought we had booked a 4 room apartment with 3 bedrooms, but instead we got a 2 bedroom apartment with the 3rd bedroom outside and accessed through communal areas. This was definitely not what we were expecting, and we were let down by the lack of honesty from the company.

    I had an amazing ski trip with your company, everything went smoothly, from the flights to the transfers, and checking in to getting our lift passes. I really appreciated how well organised and efficient your services were. I did have a small issue accidentally cancelling a lift pass, but when I got in touch with customer services they sorted it out quickly and professionally. Even though I didn't need to contact them during our trip, I'm sure the customer service in resort would have been just as good. Overall, I felt like I got great value for money with your company, especially compared to other tour operators or booking independently. I'll definitely be choosing your company for my next ski trip.

    La Plagne Ski Holiday

    We booked as a group of four with Sunweb in November '22 through a friend's recommendation. We returned from La Plagne in January '23, having been in touch with the local Sunweb rep there. I will keep this as factual as possible, but subjectively this was the worst package holiday I have ever experienced. We sent in a formal complaint 13 days ago through the appropriate channels, but have not received a response. I called to confirm Sunweb had received it, and was told they would respond in 3 working days. They have not. Below is a condensed version of our complaint letter.

    1. Avoidable pool closure with health impacts, and unsafe opening.

    Myself and my partner have chronic knee injuries and so the use of some way to apply heat to our joints is very important. I also have a medical condition for which I take tablets and injections. In order to ski with minimal pain, I need ice, heat and rehab movement - the pool and sauna are essential for this. I explained this all to Sunweb in December 2022 via email. We would have accepted Sunweb's offer then of a 10% discount, or to change location, but we received an email from Sunweb about a day after we inquired re the pool closure, saying that it would be open again on the 15th January. We trusted this promise and did not change accommodation.

    We arrived at 7pm on 15th January and our hotel (Maeva) staff informed us that the pool had not been opened, although they had been told it would be. On the 16th of January, we were informed by the staff that it would be opened either that day or the day after (17th January). Staff quietly told us that they had been waiting for the pool to open since the 18th December.

    The pool eventually opened, after we checked every day, on 19th January, from 4.30pm. However, the gate to the pool itself locked behind the first few guests to get into the pool, leaving them stuck in lukewarm water and unable to get out for about 30 minutes. Eventually these guests had to prop a chair up against a fence to get out of the pool area. This was a huge safety hazard considering it is an outdoor pool and the people trapped were only in barely warm water. The gate to the pool was only fixed at about 6pm, the pool is supposed to close at 7pm. Additionally, only one sauna room of two was open, cramming about eight to ten people into a box of about 5 square feet.

    2. No keys for our friend's room

    We had a major issue halfway through the trip, with two of our party who had booked separately with Sunweb. There were no keys in the packet when they arrived at 1am on a Wednesday. They woke us all up and we were preparing the room to squeeze six people into the four-person studio we were in (two people sleeping on the floor) before I was able to get through to someone from Maeva (by accident because someone happened to be holding the phone). If we had not been there, they would not have had a place to sleep, and Maeva reception was closed all day on Wednesday. The next day, they were offered frankly insulting compensation for their experience, in the form of free towels. They would not have been able to pick the towels up anyway because, as I said, reception is always closed all day on Wednesdays.

    3. Extremely late and unsafe transfer to airport

    Our transfer back to Geneva Airport was 1h 45min late. It was supposed to arrive at 10.10am. At 10.30am with no transport appearing, we called Ski Lifts directly (as instructed by the Sunweb voucher) who began to try and track down the driver with little success. At 11.10am, one hour past the time we should have departed, we were finally told they could not contact the driver and Ski Lifts unhelpfully advised us to try and find our own taxi to the airport! Baffled, we explained we did not know taxi services in the area at all, and Ski Lifts reluctantly said they would try to find another driver. When we asked why our driver was late, they did not have an answer. At 11.20am, the driver himself contacted us and promised he would be there in 5 minutes. He eventually arrived at 11.35am, and we left La Plagne after a miscommunication about another pickup, at 11.55am. The driver eventually, after a lot of blustering and avoidance, admitted he was 1h 45min late because he had overslept, due to previously working a 23h shift, and he was also on significant painkillers due to an injury. We spotted he got caught by at least 2 speed cameras, and was driving at 110mph on the clock.

    The way Sunweb, Maeva and Ski Lifts have dealt with the above problems has been hugely unprofessional, dismissive and frankly rude. The Sunweb rep told us they had agreed to a 10% discount for the pool issue alone - considering we had tried to avoid this exact issue weeks prior, this was hugely upsetting and insulting.

    We have asked for appropriate compensation. Our hope is that getting it will be the one good experience we can say we had with Sunweb.
