Family room with breakfast
Arrive late on our first night the room was as booked clean basic windows were really ... some of the towels were threadbare mirrors ... Cups not great either. We left early to do a panned meeting and arrived back to the room at 5pm the room had not been serviced and when I went down to reception I was told they don’t service rooms they will provide extra towels tea and coffee if requested and they said they had left a blue card to explain this.
NO Card was left in our room. I asked what would happen if we were here for a longer stay they explained if we STAYED FOR 7 PLUS NIGHTS ONLY THEN WOULD THE ROOM BE CLEANED CLEAN SHEETS. I asked why would you charge the same rates for a unserviced room. They explained it was like that since covid which had finished some years Since.
I then went onto the travel lodge web site in no area of the web site was this laid out but every other rule and regulation was.
Was going to book for an additional night but absolutely no chance of that when I can have a clean room anywhere else. Absolutely disgraceful.Worst customer service experience of my life
I received the worst customer service of my life from someone who is either a supervisor or manager as she was the only one not wearing Travelodge uniform.
She was rude to me and my girlfriend and didn't even apologise for her actions. We made a simple request of asking if she would be able to give us a call if our room happened to be ready earlier like I have done countless times with many different hotels and they are always happy to oblige or politely explain why the room may not be ready until check in time. She claimed she didn't understand what we were asking and spoke to us with a very blunt manner and rude tone of voice/attitude
I asked for her name so that I could make a complaint and she replied "it's none of your business" and then ripped her name badge off herself so that I couldn't see it. What's the point of having a name badge then? Because she knew I was going to complain and mention her name but she wanted to block it, that's not the point of it or how things work.
I can only describe her as an overweight middle aged lady 50+ wearing non uniform, black leggings/trousers, shoulder length auburn/purple hair. Everyone else was in uniform so it's not difficult to identify her.
She was the only one on the front desk between 11:50am-12:20pm
After she was rude we got some food and then I decided I would politely and respectfully tell her that "I felt as though she was rude to me and my girlfriend" and then she asked me what my name was and told me she was refusing my stay.
We booked this through Agoda so I contacted Agoda at much stress & hassle to myself to request a refund because our stay had been blocked. The lady from Agoda explained I would only be entitled to a refund once they got ahold of the property as no one answered the initial phone calls. Agoda asked me to wait half an hour max and if they still couldn't contact the property then I would get a refund. The Agoda lady informed me that she sent an E-mail to the property and was awaiting a response after multiple failed telephone calls.
I went back in and asked the lady nicely if she would respond to the E-mail to which she said "yeah no problem" very bluntly and then immediately began walking in the other direction.
After waiting 40 minutes I contacted Agoda again and got through to a male. He explained that she had not responded to the E-mail despite her telling me to my face that she would. It was clear to me at this point she was doing everything in her power to be spiteful/difficult. Why say you will respond to the E-mail and then ignore it? No other reason than to be spiteful/difficult and once again showing awful customer service.
After making me go through loads of stress, hassle and waiting over an hour total as well as phoning a premium rate number to contact Travelodge. Agoda finally got through to the lady who then all of a sudden changed her mind (imagine that) and said she would honour our booking to the Agoda representative. Once again proving she is a liar, saying one thing to my face but too coward to say it to an Agoda representative. I believe this may have been because she thought I booked direct with Travelodge and wouldn't be able to get a refund so easily, she was mistaken.
I went back in to Travelodge and no one was at the front desk so I had to call the number and I got through to her. I wanted to confirm that she will honour our booking. It was obvious to me at this point we are also dealing with a liar who is lying because she knew she was in the wrong and needed some kind of defence for her abysmal customer service and that was the only thing she could come up with. The classic "your word against mine" every liars final defence. She claimed I was rude however I don't feel as though me challenging her for being rude to us initially is me being rude at all. I politely and respectfully said "I feel like you were rude to me and my girlfriend" I then explained that a lot of other hotels we have stayed at are nice enough to let us check in earlier than the actual check in time if our room is ready. If not they explain politely and respectfully why we can't check in earlier which she did not. She had an awful attitude. I don't understand where I was rude in all of that? I then asked for her name which she refused to give and ripped her name badge off. She didn't put the name badge back on the whole time we were staying there. So she was walking around the whole time for 1 day+ without a name badge on which I am sure is against company policy like it is in most places.
Anyway we are still on the phone at this point and she mimicked me down the phone using a child like voice "yeah loads of hotels let you check in early". She then said "I don't care how many hotel's you've stayed in" which I thought was very rude.
She then rudely cut me off and I told her once again that she was being rude and impolite to me over the phone and she literally admitted and I quote "Yes I am being rude because I've got loads of rooms to sort and at this rate it won't be ready for 3pm" (which is check in time)
That's not our problem though is it? and you shouldn't be speaking to paying customers in this way and you shouldn't be rude to customers as well as arguing back. Especially as she is a manager!! I couldn't believe it, doesn't seem like she's worked a day of customer service in her life. Not with those customer service skills anyway.
She then put us in the room closest to the reception and the entrance, I imagine this was once again a spiteful retaliation to get "1 up" on me by putting us in a room that was loud because we could hear the people coming into reception as well as those standing at the entrance having a cigarette. We were also put in the same part of the hotel where they keep the dogs as I kept hearing barking dogs repeatedly and was annoyingly woken up by one at 5am. Every other time we have stayed in Travelodges which is easily 10+ times this year alone we have always been near the back of the hotel away from all the dogs. Even when we have stayed at this particular branch 3 times previously we were put near the back of the hotel but for some reason this time was different and I imagine it was done on purpose to give us the most inconvenient/loud room because that's what it was compared to our previous stays. All our other stays were nice and quiet but not this time. I wonder why?
The next day someone knocked on our door at 11:59am we were literally in the process of putting our shoes on after packing up our stuff but they were trying to kick us out as promptly as possible couldn't even give us 1 minutes grace. They were early anyway check out is at 12pm not 11:59am. Once again I imagine this was instructed by the manager so that she could "1 up" us and make our lives as difficult and unpleasant as possible because she clearly couldn't take being criticised for her rude actions. Very petty indeed.
The remote was also not working when we got into the room and there were hairs on the table. I have photos for proof.
Once again no apology given, the worst customer service experience of my life. The woman clearly has issues if this is how she treats customers. Very petty and spiteful. Doing everything reasonably possible within her power to make our experience as difficult and unpleasant as she possibly could. She literally could not have tried any harder to make our stay unpleasant. I have never had someone knock on my door 1 minute before check out to promptly kick us out and I have stayed at a lot of different hotels. Once again just not giving us anything more than she had to.
This is hands down the worst customer service experience/hotel stay that me and my girlfriend have ever received and it has put us off using Travelodge.Oxford OX33 1JH
It was indeed a great stay at Oxford Wheatley travelodge, on 25th June 2021. The employee at reception on my arrival , Mr.Sasha was immensely helpful and professional. I reached there after a long journey and he supported me by giving the best room, external noise free one. I appreciate his kindness and professionalism. The room was tidy and well organized.
The staff who was there on next day was also supportive and friendly , he helped me with taxi booking. In total it was a nice experience.Travel lodge thrapston kettering

Stayed here recently for a 5 night stay. The door handle and lock was a bit loose so had trouble when entering the room. The peep hole cover on the side of the door inside the room was missing so anyone walking by could look through from the outside and see into our room. After the second night the room was 'serviced' but to a very poor standard - bins not changed, floors not hoovered, beds not made, cups not washed, teas and coffees not restocked, toilet roll not replaced, bath not cleaned. We did receive clean towels though. Informed the night manager who apologised profusely and told us we would receive an evoucher, then on the day we left we were told we would instead receive one nights refund, neither happened, have received nothing. The service improved very slightly throughout the rest of the stay but every day we had to go and ask for toilet roll as they never checked and replaced it!! Would not return!
Best accomodation for budget as well as luxury travelers to stop by
Great deals, changing over times, amazing values, luxury and reasonable at once, wifi and all make Travelodge is the best choice ever. In last summer, I have stayed there with my family, this summer I went on a group tour. Loved the experience. I am happy that I could recommend to the group for this cheap and best accommodation.
Recommended.I have a booking in Peterbourogh next month and the hotel can't tell me if they'll even be open as corona virus shuts everything down. My rate was non refundable and Travelodge is just telling me to contact my insurance provider.. In this situation Travelodge should at least offer me a voucher for a later date, rather than just stealing my money.. Shameful!!! This is legal fraud!!!
