    I had a horrible experience with a rental car from Enterprise that was arranged through Aviva, the insurance claims management company of a driver who rear ended me, resulting in my vehicle being a total loss. My trouble started when my own insurance was cancelled, as I had no insurable vehicle. Since I provided my insurance information when I picked up the rental, I called Enterprise to make sure I was still covered for third-party liability. I was told I was not, and then made several calls to Aviva and my own car insurance since Enterprise suggested I should try to get my cancelled insurance extended, which was not possible. I called Enterprise again the next day, and after an employee consulted with someone else in the office, was told that Enterprise would "cover anything", though the communication was confusing and it is still not clear to me what policy I was being insured under and what would happen should I be in an accident that was my fault.

    My next problem occurred when my rental car broke down. The clutch went on the car, and though I was able to get it home, I had to then wait for the repair company that Enterprise contracted to come look at the vehicle, and eventually tow it. While the repair person was there, both he and I tried to call Enterprise to figure out what to do about getting me a vehicle so that I could get to work the next morning, but no one in the office answered the phone despite the office being open. This went on for about 45 minutes until we gave up. I called Enterprise later in the day and was told I could get a rental car the next morning, which was fine, but did ultimately result in my being late for work the next morning as I had to wait for Enterprise to open for the day.

    After my rental period was over and I returned the car, I started receiving parking fine notifications form Enterprise, with a hefty administration fee of £35 each (this is not the cost of the parking fee, it is just the administration fee that Enterprise charges for sending the issuing parking enforcement your contact information). These fines are from my workplace, where I have an annual parking pass. I've now received four of these administration fees, and received the first well over a week from the time it was issued. If I had been informed in a timely manner, I could have updated the parking office with my temporary registration plate information and avoided the additional fines. My workplace has waived the fees since I pay monthly for parking, and I have been trying to contact Enterprise to ask for the administration fees to be cancelled, by they have been very slow to communicate and are making it very difficult. They have insisted that I send them a "notice of cancellation" from the issuing authority, which is not my workplace, but a parking management company which does not publish contact information, so I have no way of contacting them.

    My bank has now identified the charges that Enterprise is making to my account as fraudulent, and I've lost access to my bank account.

    Booked car for holiday, ended up with cracked windscreen

    I got a car for our holiday, and when we gave it back, we noticed a cracked windscreen. The company didn't give us any windscreen or breakdown cover, so we assumed we'd have to cover the £500 excess. But it turned out they made us pay the whole £890 for the windscreen. It makes no sense to have an excess if we end up paying the full amount anyway. Stay away from this company and try another one, because they are a total mess.

    Rented van, scammed for tyre

    I rented a van thinking all was good, but then they claimed I damaged a tyre, which I didn't do. Now they're asking for more money - it's a complete rip off. I recommend avoiding them altogether.

    My insurance company arranged for us to have a car hired from this company whilst our car was being repaired. Before picking the car up we had to phone them and they kept us on the phone for over 2 hours going through all the aspects of the accident that we had already gone through with the insurance company, Finally they 'allowed' us to have the car. On the day we picked the car up they encouraged us to take out insurance on the hire car at £7 per day - which we agreed to do. They took £1 which was supposed to be refundable to verify our card and then said that they would take 10 days insurance cost from the card but would refund any unused days. In the event we had the car for 8 days and 3 hours. We were told the extra two days plus the £1 would be refunded. When that had not happened after two weeks we queried it with them. They said we would have to pay a whole day for the extra 3 hours and claimed we had had the car 10 days. The employee seemed completely unable to do enough maths to work out we had had it only 9 days. Had to give up in the end. If they scam £15 out of every hire - they are doing quite well. Left us feeling annoyed.

    Enterprise Stansted Airport

    hired a car a couple of weeks ago .. WORST experience ever, when we handed the car back the woman working there with her horrendous attitude accused us of damaging the tire and that they wouldn't be able to rent the vehicle out because the damaged we had caused and that they were putting a claim in against us... we have received NOTHING from enterprise re this claim.. I've have chased on SEVERAL occasions with no response.. I have photo evidence that this scratch on the tire was already there but still no answer and now left without my deposit back ... THE WORST company to use and I wont ever be using them again.. Con artists as I can see from other reviews this has happened plenty of time

    Rental for holiday

    No problems hiring initially. A few weeks after we hired the car we received a notice from Enterprise saying we have a traffic violation and they are charging us a £35 'admin fee' for passing the news on, but we would also hear directly from the people issuing the fine.

    The fine is for £0.00, so the only charge is the admin fee. When we looked into the time and place of the incident we were apparently fined for a parking violation while the car was still in the Enterprise bay 9 minutes after we had agreed to hire (based on their own timings they sent us). At that point we hadn't even driven the car yet and had absolutely not parked separately in the same area. We have tried contacting them but they are stonewalling us saying there is nothing they can do, even though if this charge is real it is them that parked the car illegally in the first place. We have not yet been contacted by any other company for a fine.

    DO NOT TRUST THEM.
    Car hire is fine but you have to access through NCP car parks and if you use their services they are supposed to clear your drop off vehicle of the NCP charge.
    They cannot be bothered to do this!
    After my hire in July i now have a final stage £170 Debt Collection issue as despite the manager Al-Badry insisting in August, then October it was being taken care off, absolutely nothing was done. DO NOT TRUST A WORD HE SAYS.
    Now escalated to their head office and it is finally being dealt with.

    AVOID AT ALL COSTS. UNTRUSTWORTHY.

    This company basically decided that after 20 miles, I damaged four tyres badly enough to replace them. I disputed the charge and another rep emailed me telling me that basically I had no choice but to pay. After that emails were not returned and they have taken the money. This is just a way of scamming the public and I think that there needs to be a way Joe Public has a legal resource available to them

    Totally ripped me off when there was slight damage to the side, paid the £1,150 in good faith then was just fobbed off with "the damage was more than or equal to the excess", which is absurd, it was a scratch.

    Cancelled car hire

    Terrible company, terrible service. After taking over £900 & confirming a booking in person & via email, they cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, apparently couldn’t find a car!! Then informed me a refund would take 5-7 days!
    Shop elsewhere!!
    Would not give any stars, but that’s fixed!!!!!

    Car Rental (Courtesy Car)

    Had a car accident and unfortunately I have accepted a courtesy car from enterprise for 3 weeks while my car was being repaired. The cost of the courtesy car to the insurance was about £500 per day.

    Following the end of the rental period, the driver inspected the car and confirmed there are no damages, 3 weeks later, I get a letter from enterprise claiming a nail was found in one of the tyres during my rental period. I have written them an email rejecting the claim, they simply ignored the email and charged me the costs of changing the tyre.
    Terrible customer service when I called the next day. Unfortunately I will be taking this further which will be a real waste of time.

    Best car rental experience so far

    I have been once with enterprise rent-a-car and the experience went pretty well. From booking to returning the car, it was smooth. Overall behavior of the staff is nice and friendly. They help getting you the best you need. So I surely will go for another renting experience with them as I often go for various occassions where I need these rental cars. The cost in comparison is average but still cheaper than lot of car rental services around.
