By the time we reached the rental desk it felt like the story was already written — voucher in hand, no warning that the card must match the driver. It was tucked away in tiny print and not something you’d spot while booking. The local agent said they couldn’t accept my partner’s card and that Enjoy Travel could have changed the name for us, if only someone had answered. We tried calling, tried the live chat, tried emailing — nobody picked up. In the end we had to cancel on the spot and hire another car for over €600 to keep our trip on track. We asked for a refund straight away; Enjoy Travel refused and since then replies have dried up. The local company seemed willing to help if the booking side had been responsive, so it’s not entirely hopeless, but the handover and customer service from Enjoy Travel were poor and opaque. We’ve had better luck with other providers who at least pick up the phone. Not ideal, but the trip carried on — at a cost.
Stranded at Toulouse
don’t trust EnjoyTravel for car hire. Long story short, they booked us in but the booking was treated as void the moment we were a few minutes late — and that wrecked our holiday. We landed at Toulouse in the evening with a tired bunch (my partner, my sister and three kids) and followed the voucher to the counter it named. The bloke behind the desk said we were 10 minutes late, the reservation had been cancelled and there was no car for us. That was that.
Long wait, ended up being a faff
if you want quicker, clearer handling, consider buying excess cover through the car hire company instead, or at least insist on a phone contact. I’m glad it paid out, yet I wouldn’t call the experience smooth. A few changes — shorter response times, proper case review and a phone line — would make this much better. As it is, it works but with too many unnecessary headaches.
Slightly rocky start, happy(ish) ending
at the rental desk they said our booking had been marked as a no‑show and there was no car. Not great. I was annoyed, worried about ruined plans and family visits, you know the lot. I phoned and emailed the agency and used the chat — lots of “a colleague is dealing with it” replies and a fair bit of waiting. That was frustrating and honestly quite stressful for a day or two. Then, slowly, things started to move. It took persistent chasing on our side (and a couple more calls than I’d hoped), but EnjoyTravel eventually sorted an alternative car and offered a small gesture for the hassle. Communication could be sharper — there were repeats and a lag, and I’m not pretending it was smooth sailing — but once they picked it up properly they were helpful and apologetic. First impressions were rough, first day almost ruined, but after the hiccup we actually managed our planned trips and visits. Emotionally I was up and down — angry, then relieved — and in the end a bit glad I didn’t cancel the booking. Would I use them again? Possibly, but I’d keep a careful eye on confirmation and allow extra time for pick‑up. If you’re booking through them, just be prepared to chase if needed; the platform itself is easy and the price was fair, it’s the supplier communication that needs work. All in all, mixed but ended on a positive note.
Late-night relief at the desk
00, and the booking showed €136 for a week — straightforward. Then at the Goldcar counter nobody could find me, fifteen minutes passed, and suddenly my reservation was marked as a “no‑show” and cancelled. That’s the bit that made my stomach drop, you know? I kept thinking, I literally gave you my ETA. So I argued, calmly, then not so calmly, and was offered a tiny economy car for over €600. Ridiculous.
What surprised me, though, was the pivot about an hour later. After a long, utterly fruitless chat with Enjoy Travel’s AI (over 90 minutes of promises to connect me to a human that never happened), a real person on the phone finally pulled the record, reactivated the booking and, to be fair, bumped me up to a slightly nicer car without extra charge. That’s the moment I knew it was going to be alright — not because the system handled it well, but because a person did. Strange how one sensible human fixes more than any automated system.
In the end the car was fine for the week and actually saved the holiday. We used it for the usual — supermarket runs, a couple of day trips to Eze and Villefranche, ferrying luggage to different apartments — simple, everyday stuff that made the trip feel like a proper break. I’m still annoyed about the initial chaos, the lack of timely response and the insane temporary quote, but relieved that the practical outcome wasn’t a disaster. A small unexpected positive was a complimentary tank top to half full and a friendly local agent who apologised properly; that little courtesy changed the tone.
So: honest feedback — tighten up the handover between platform and supplier, sort out the AI handoffs, but if a person steps in you can still salvage things.Keys at last, but not without a bad taste
if you don’t want to be pushed into paying on the spot, book directly where you can. Or at least check the small print about insurance and what’s actually covered. Also, always have a backup payment method and don’t rely on one tap working at the counter. I don’t think we were deliberately targeted, but the whole episode felt like we were an easy mark. Still, the holiday didn’t get ruined. The small moment when I turned the key and we drove off, that was the moment I knew I’d be okay. It didn’t make the charge fair, or the service decent, but it did turn a corner from panic to pragmatic satisfaction. If you value being treated decently, don’t go in with blind trust. And if you’re in a similar spot, be firm. Pay attention to the way staff treat everyone as they come in — if the same spiel is repeated, walk away. I’ll be telling friends not to book this way again. Not worth the stress.
Enjoy Travel car hire.
Enjoy Travel should remove recommendations to use Flextogo from their comparison algorithm. My flight was rescheduled for a later time I informed both Enjoy Travel and Flextogo. On my arrival at Düsseldorf Flextogo that had no knowledge of my email and had cancelled my booking and I had to make another booking. No refund has been given. Use a different Broker and if on the broker’s comparison results Flextogo are the cheapest- save yourself the hassle and use a different hire care company.
Car hire
Total scam of a company. Enjoytravel have hidden out of hours charges that they do not advertise or can prove they exist and not just made up.
Complained to customer service, don’t reply don’t answer the phone. Avoid like the plagueDebit Card Car Hire
The EnjoyTravel website is great to LOOK at, as a travel services broker. When it comes to car hire however - and specifically DEBIT CARD car hire - more needs to be done by ET to ensure that prospective customers are not misinformed or inadvertently misled into paying for something that ultimately requires a CREDIT CARD from the end-provider, and without which, the vehicle will not be released. Encountering this very problem with a sick, special needs child in tow, the last thing we needed was for ET customer service to be essentially uncontactable, resulting in 48 hours of frustrating back-and-forths by phone, voicemail, emails, text and chatbox messages trying to resolve matters. On the positive side, all was finally resolved with a full refund (at ET's expense) and a personal phone call from a Director who reassured us that any perceived 'failures in communication' and/or with customer service were unusual and regrettable, and that the 'debit card only' car hire service system was in the process of being updated and clarified on the ET website so as to avoid any future confusion or inconvenience to customers. Overall, and despite the disappointment and inconvenience of not being able to collect our paid-for vehicle, and, given the possibility that the convoluted 'small print' in end-users' contracts is often onerous and unclear and therefore partly to blame... we would simply advise any other ET customers in a similar situation to make it absolutely 100% clear what one wants, and to document and record everything 'just in case'. Now, and given the final respectful resolution of our complaint - and even in circumstances where 'fault' has not been fully established - we would use EnjoyTravel again. ...However, having since seen scores of similar negative reviews... mmmm?...
Booking amendments assistance
The customer service at this travel agency was absolutely brilliant. Nathalie was so helpful in helping me make changes to my booking. She made everything really easy and quick, and I was really grateful for her help. Thanks a lot for everything. Overall, the customer service here was top-notch. I would definitely suggest this travel agency to anyone, based on the great experience I had with them.
Car rental booking
The staff member Srabana was really helpful, but I was a bit let down by the extra cost to change the drop off time for my car rental. Even though I thought the service was quick, it was a shame to be asked to pay for a small alteration. The price for this change felt a bit steep and it kind of spoiled an otherwise easy process.
Changed car booking from June to October
Nathalie was absolutely brilliant when I needed to change my car booking from June to October. We had a chat online and she even sent me an email to double-check everything was all sorted.
Rental car purchase
They cancelled my order and took ages to give me my money back. Everything was fine with my purchase at first - I paid for a rental car I could get a refund on. But when I wanted to cancel, it was a nightmare. They said it would take up to 10 working days to get my refund, but it actually took nearly 20 days. I had to email them loads of times over several days before I finally got my cash back. The refund dates kept changing and the customer service person was useless and so rude.
Car rental purchase
It's just shocking how Enjoy Travel works with such dishonest partners like SixT. I booked a car through Enjoy Travel, only to get to the pickup spot and be turned away because I hadn't bought insurance directly from SixT. The car park had plenty of cars available, and the customer before me also didn't get their car. It's obvious that SixT relies on pushing insurance to make money, and Enjoy Travel is part of it all.
Booking amendment
I had to make a last-minute change to my travel plans and needed to adjust my booking with the company. Srabana, the customer service representative, was amazing. Even with the time difference between the UK and Australia, she sorted out my collection time in Cairns overnight. Her quick response and efficiency were really impressive, and I would absolutely recommend her service.
Car rental Munich airport
The company gave me a good deal on a car rental at Munich airport. I was happy at first because it was cheaper than other companies. But then I got a badly written email saying my booking was canceled, and it was very unprofessional. I was disappointed by the lack of communication and how they handled it. It's put me off using them again.
Terrible customer service
This company's customer service is absolutely terrible! I raised a complaint about a financial problem back in April, but it's still not sorted out. I even sent them an email in May, but they haven't replied. I won't be using their services again, that's for sure.
Needed bigger car rental
I needed a larger car for my trip, so I spoke to a really helpful person who made everything so simple. I just explained my needs, and they sorted everything out for me - changed my booking, paid the extra cost, and even mentioned they could give me a refund if the price dropped later on!
Car rental mishap
Even though we were initially told the wrong place to meet the car supplier, we managed to make it work by using our hotel transfer. Luckily, Nathalie from Enjoy Travel intervened and contacted the supplier, who then sent the car to our hotel with two courteous young men. It all worked out in the end, I guess!
Car rental in Iceland
The service was honestly amazing. Sonia was so helpful and kept in touch really well the whole time. I'm really excited to drive around Iceland in their car later this year.
About Enjoy Travel
Movement from place to place is one of the very first sets of activities known to man. Through the ages, diverse forms of transportation have been embraced to facilitate the movement of man and his goods and services. Whether travelling on holidays or business trips, the importance of a car for ease of movement cannot be overemphasised. If you have to travel in a group or with members of your family, you might realize that it can be a hassle to move about with public transportation even in countries with efficient public transport systems. Travelling for individuals can be hectic in and of itself, and when you add in the stress of other humans and luggage, one might just prefer not to embark on the trip at all. Another scenario is if you travel on business and decide to explore on your free time away from your scheduled activities. Or you travel to a location where you have friends or family and decide to have a quick visit with them in between your itinerary. Or you want to explore the hinterland locations of a city or locations that are not covered by public transport. While many people have their own cars, they might be unable to take them to new cities or on their trips. All of these and many more underscore the importance of having access to cars through car rental companies. If you are travelling on a budget, however, you might think it cost-effective not to hire a car. What if you had the option of renting at affordable prices? Would that make a difference to your travel plans? I bet it would. And that is the importance of car rental services. Car rental comparison services on the other hand work to ensure that they provide different options for their customers within the destination of their choice. Enjoy Travel is a company that claims that their services are tailored towards providing a variety of convenient mobility options for their clientele. We suggest you consider reading independent customer review of Enjoy Travel before you decide to patronize their services.
