    Cheque gone, towel warmer not

    I left the cheque on the kitchen table because a colleague had pointed them out. I was hesitant. They were in the UK and I wasn't sure about sending a cheque overseas, but the price looked fair so I went ahead. Weeks went by. The cheque cleared. No parcel arrived. I rang, I rang a few times, using expensive international calls. First person said there was no order. Another told me to email the order. I emailed. Months passed. Almost a year later I've spoken to different people at Hudson Reed. Still no product and still no refund. I've spent over £120 on calls chasing the refund. It's been slow, boring and unresolved.

    Had a tiny chrome trim fall off my shower knob and, honestly, it looked ridiculous for weeks — kept catching my eye. I emailed the company in the spring (needed a spare, model was ancient) and they replied quickly. After I sent my purchase details they told me the model was discontinued but would try to source one — and they did. Shaunna was brilliant, kept me posted and even chased the parcel to make sure it arrived (in the US, no less). Fitted it straight away and it’s like nothing happened. Proper good, personable service — made a small annoyance vanish.

    Not a total disaster, but don't be naive

    be cautious — this wasn't the smoothest ride, yet it's not the apocalypse either. I found out the hard way when we fitted their taps and showers across seven new-builds last spring. Jumping in halfway through the build, they looked smart and tidy on the spec sheet, but my first impression when unboxing was a faint whiff of cheapness. At first I was properly annoyed — several taps started leaking within weeks and getting any sense from customer support felt like trying to pin jelly to the wall. After a fair bit of nagging they did send replacements and some fixes, and a few units are fine now. Still, expect a fight if something goes wrong and don't assume warranty is effortless.

    Half the jets work, oddly enough

    UK number only, then transferred to an international line and left on hold — I hung up. Web replies were a bit amateur, replies like “Hmmm” and “Well” and asking why the plumber left. If you’re not in the UK, ask about international support before buying. I’d expect clearer service.

    Tap drama that thankfully settled down

    they suggested a gentler cleaner and offered to replace the affected heads at a small cost. The moment I knew I was actually pleased was when the replacement arrived — same weight, same feel, and it sits in the sink like it belongs. It’s not perfect and I’ll be gentler with cleaning, but I’m glad it worked out. Bit pricey to start with, but relieved rather than furious now.

    1000W electric radiators purchase

    I bought two 1000W electric radiators for our living room from this company not long ago. Sadly, the first pair got here in a bit of a state due to some rough treatment during shipping.
