    Emergency cancellation insurance coverage

    Unfortunately, my wife got diagnosed with lung cancer just 2 days before we were supposed to jet off on holiday. But, Explorer Travel Insurance really came through for us by giving us back all the money we spent on the trip. It was a huge weight off our shoulders during such a tough time. Now, I'm thinking of checking with Explorer about getting insurance for a holiday here in the UK while my wife's treatment goes on.     Once I found out I had mild COPD, I looked everywhere for affordable travel insurance from the well-known companies, but couldn't find any. Then I found your company and, goodness me, what a pleasant surprise it was! Filling in all the necessary details was so easy, much easier than other companies.     I bought a travel insurance policy from this company and, luckily, I haven't needed to claim, but I have to say, I was really disappointed with what came next. I was bombarded with loads of emails from them, it felt like every few days there was a new one in my inbox trying to sell me another policy (even though I already have one) or just sending me things I didn't need. It was just too much and I didn't like it at all. It honestly made me think less of the company, so I won't be buying from them again just because of that.

    Explorer gave me a really good deal on my annual insurance which also covered my cruise. During my trip, we missed a port because of storm Babette, but Explorer wasted no time in sorting out the payment. At 75 years old and with some health problems, I'm happy with the service and I plan to renew my policy with them later this year. I'd definitely suggest Explorer to others as well.

    I was really pleased with how well the insurance company communicated with us and how clear the coverage was. The amount they paid out for holiday cancellation and lost baggage was much better than what other companies were offering. Given the health issues both my husband and I have had, the price we paid for the insurance seemed very fair.     I had a really terrible experience with this company. It's been 18 months now and I'm still struggling to get my claim sorted out. The hospital hasn't even sent a final notice for payment, and when they tried to contact the company, they were met with refusals and excuses about data protection. I can't believe they would use that as an excuse to avoid dealing with legitimate claims. I had to jump through hoops to get important documents like my son's doctor's ER notes just to prove his diagnosis, which should have been provided by the insurance company in the first place. And now, even after all this back and forth, I have a looming deadline before the bill goes to collections. The lack of communication and professionalism from this company is really frustrating and I would suggest anyone thinking of using them to think twice.

    Explorer used for Lanzarote trip

    I've been with this travel insurance company for ages, but had to stop using them due to Covid. My sister's health isn't great at the moment, so we can't go on trips together anymore. However, for my 80th birthday, my family treated us to a surprise trip to Lanzarote, and we went back to using Explorer for insurance. I haven't had to make a claim yet, so can't really comment on that.
