I was impressed by how fast and efficiently they handled my claim, which resulted in a full refund for all my medical expenses and the emergency flight back home (minus the excess). It only took about a month from my first contact with them to getting the money back in my account, which was a pleasant surprise. I didn't have high hopes for making an insurance claim for the first time, but Outbacker Insurance really went the extra mile to support me when I needed it most. Backpacker insurance without needing return flight
Alright, so I'm about to head off on this massive adventure for around 6 months, and I made sure to sort out some backpacker insurance to make sure I'm all sorted if anything goes wrong. The first insurance I went for was pretty rubbish because it wouldn't cover me if I didn't have a return flight booked! I mean, what if I end up falling head over heels for a kangaroo and decide to stay put forever? I found the Outbacker Insurance website layout to be really easy to use, unlike other insurance companies I've tried before. Buying insurance online was fast and simple. However, my good experience took a hit when my flight got cancelled and I tried to cancel my insurance policy. It's been really tough to do, needing loads of calls and emails. It just doesn't make sense that it's so hard to cancel a policy that hasn't even started yet. But if I do manage to cancel eventually, I must say, the service overall was pretty decent.
