Cottage booking
I rented a cottage last year, and it was really disappointing. There was no QR code to scan for legal requirements, the outside bin was overflowing, there was no wardrobe for hanging clothes, damp patches on the walls, a dirty bathroom with low water pressure and a cracked shower tray, and even ice in the fridge. When we complained to the customer relations team after our stay, they didn't take any responsibility. I definitely won't be booking with them again, and I would advise others not to either.
Dirty cottage, false advertising
The directions to the cottage were so confusing, and when we got there, it was absolutely filthy. We sent them proof of how bad it was, but they wouldn't admit fault and only sent a cleaner after we kept at it. We were stuck without anywhere else to stay. It's been days now, and they still haven't given us a proper solution.
Cottage booking experience
I booked a holiday cottage not long ago and I must say I was really let down by their customer service and lack of responsibility. It felt like whenever there was a problem, they just passed it on to the property owners instead of owning up to it themselves. We've had good experiences with them in the past, but since the takeover, things have really gone downhill. I wouldn't suggest booking with them anymore. It's really disappointing to see smaller cottage brands being bought out by bigger companies like Sykes, because it just seems to result in poorer service and care for customers.
Snowdonia holiday cottage
I've just come back from a lovely break at a cottage in Snowdonia and it was absolutely fantastic. The place was really clean, cosy and had everything we needed. We did have a little issue with the hob, but both the company and the owner sorted it out really quickly. Even though I was a bit worried after reading some reviews, it actually turned out to be a brilliant experience.
Stay at a holiday cottage
The complaints from the previous reviewer are just silly. We don't use that rental site anymore, but we have full confidence in our inspection team. We offered this guest inspections and deep cleans, but they turned them down quickly. Their complaints about cleanliness don't hold water, considering our great reviews on other sites and our history of happy visitors. The way they behaved rudely towards our friend, the rental team, and me was totally uncalled for. Complaining about a bit of dust or small rust marks is just ridiculous. We clearly advertised our 'shabby-chic/retro/vintage' style, so not liking the decor isn't a good reason to act like that. If they had talked to us during their stay, we could have sorted out any problems, but they didn't take that chance. Even when we tried to make a gesture of goodwill, they turned it down rudely. Trying to ruin our reputation with lies is really awful.
Booked a holiday cottage
The staff at that place are lovely, but honestly, they seriously need to get their admin in order because it's a right mess! I ended up booking the wrong dates by mistake and fixing it was a total nightmare. I had to wait on hold for over 2 hours before I just gave up. And when I finally got it sorted, it took forever and was really stressful.
Holiday booking
I booked a holiday with this company for within the next 6 weeks, but sadly I can't go because of government restrictions. When I tried to cancel and get a refund, I was really surprised to hear that they won't give me back my money. They kept pushing me to change my booking or cancel in a way that means they get to keep all my money. It's terrible that they're using the current situation to make money from their customers. This kind of behaviour is wrong and not okay.
Stay at a beach property
I've just had the most amazing week at a beach property. The accommodation was so clean and comfy, and the views of the beach were absolutely stunning. The lounge area was really lovely, especially with that big picture window. The owners were really friendly and always on hand if we needed anything. I'm already looking forward to coming back for another visit!
Holiday cottage stay
I stayed at a holiday cottage recently, and I was really disappointed with how dirty it was. There were hairs all over the place, the fridge was rusty, and the rugs were filthy. When I complained to the company and the owner, they didn't want to help at all. They only offered a measly 10% off and said I should be grateful compared to people in Cuba. The owner even said my complaint had ruined their holiday. It was terrible service and a terrible attitude.
Stay at a holiday cottage
I stayed at a holiday cottage on Anglesey recently, and I have to say, it was quite a letdown. The cleanliness wasn't up to scratch, the cottage needed some serious TLC, and it felt like it was just lacking overall care. When I tried to bring these concerns up with the company, they just kept telling me to talk to the owner, which was really frustrating. It felt like they were dodging responsibility for the issues at the cottage. I also got the feeling that they only put up good reviews on their website, which is pretty misleading for people looking to book a stay.
Recent stay at a holiday cottage
I stayed at a holiday cottage recently and I have to say, it was a rather disappointing experience. The place wasn't clean at all, there was a really bad smell all over the place. The carpet was in terrible condition, with nails sticking out, and the furniture was covered in pet hair and grime. Even the windows had dog paw prints all over them. The bathroom was old-fashioned and needed some serious maintenance, with rusty pipes and a stained carpet under the toilet mat. They said the cottage had easy access to the shoreline and views of the Menai Straits, but that was just not true. It was a hassle to get there and the views were totally blocked by overgrown plants. I complained to the management about all these issues, but they didn't really do anything about it. It was a real shame, I felt like they didn't care about the guests' comfort and safety at all.
Holiday Cottage Stay
As soon as we got to the holiday cottage, we realised that things weren't right. The instructions for the keysafe were all wrong, making it really annoying to get started on our holiday. And when we walked into the cottage, there was this awful smell of urine in one of the bedrooms downstairs, which was so off-putting. Some of the windows were stuck shut, so we couldn't even get some fresh air in. The dishwasher was jam-packed with old bits of food and the freezer had a bug inside, it was also dirty. The oven trays looked like they hadn't been cleaned in ages and to make matters worse, the toilet flush was playing up. Instead of chilling out and relaxing, we had to spend the first day cleaning up the mess from the last guests. It was just not on, totally unacceptable.
Holiday cottage booking
Oh mate, we booked this cottage for our holiday and it was absolutely disgusting! The bed linen was all stained, there were cobwebs all over the place, and even mould in the carpet. It was so gross that we ended up only staying for one week instead of two. The owner did give us some money back, but Menai Cottages didn't even bother to apologise. Not cool at all.
Anglesey holiday cottage
The holiday cottage we stayed at in Anglesey was a massive letdown. The pictures on the website made it look much better than it actually was. The house was old, grubby, and urgently needed a makeover. When we told the company about our complaints, they handled it very poorly. They didn't admit to any mistakes, even though it was clear the property was not up to scratch. It was annoying that there weren't any independent reviews online for this company or their cottages. It's dodgy how all the reviews on their site were positive, giving a wrong idea to people thinking of booking with them.
My experience at the holiday cottage
The cottage was in a terrible state - dirty, neglected. The kitchen was disgusting, with broken ovens, cupboard handles missing, and a chimney that was blocked. The staff were so unfriendly and impolite, and their attempt at a 'deep clean' still left muck everywhere. There was hardly any room for food in the cupboards, the sofas were all dirty, the dining table felt sticky, and the mattresses were really uncomfortable. I could hear loud cockroaches from next door from the crack of dawn. Even the showers had grimy black sealants. They wouldn't even consider compensation.
Disappointed customer
I can't believe that the holiday cottages company I used to really like has been taken over by another company. Sykes totally ruined our experience and we definitely won't be using them again. It's such a shame to see a once good company go downhill.
Stay at holiday cottage in Wales
I stayed at a holiday cottage in Wales recently and had a bit of a rough time, to be honest. The company accused me and my group of things we didn't do, and they didn't really help or talk to us much about it. It was pretty annoying, especially since we love visiting Wales. The way they dealt with it just wasn't great and put me off booking with them again.
Holiday services
A good holiday should be one worth the time and every resource put in to achieving it, otherwise, it is not worth it. Most times, holiday seekers regret embarking on the journey because of wrong holiday makers or consultants. However, I have enjoyed quality holiday packages from Menai Holiday Cottages, that whenever I look back, I am always happy for choosing the company as my consultant. I would say cottage holiday with Menai is what every holiday seeker should consider either as individuals or family. The 5-nights holiday period with Menai Holiday in one of their locations is an experience to behold. I recommend Menai Holiday Cottages to everyone who seek quality holiday services.
