    I first saw the dress on Instagram — a friend had tagged me and said it looked perfect for my father‑in‑law's party, so I ordered it even though I was nervous about the sizing. I’ve got that whole maternity-fit anxiety, you know, worried about the tummy area more than anything. It arrived and the fabric and cut looked nice, but when I tried it on it felt way too tight around my bump, so I popped it back in the post within a few days. Then the problems started. They emailed to say I wouldn’t get a refund because the tag was removed, the dress was in a worn condition and smelled of perfume. None of those things were true — I only tried it on for maybe five minutes over my underwear, no perfume, the tag was still there as far as I recall. Their story kept changing in subsequent emails; at first it was the tag, then just the perfume, then suddenly a manager said it was worn and perfumed, odd how the reasons morph. I even asked them to check whether they had the right customer, because I was baffled. I tried chasing them and replies were slow and contradictory, and I found myself explaining the same thing over and over. It’s not so much about the money — though that’s annoying when you’re a new mum — it’s the principle. I didn’t wear it out and they won’t refund me unless I pay to get it back. Saw other recent comments saying similar things, so it feels less like a one‑off. Pleasant enough tone sometimes, but the handling left me frustrated and I won’t be buying from them again.

    Almost a winner — lovely dress but a bit of a mess on arrival

    I really liked the dress, but getting it in a state that needed work was a proper disappointment. I first spotted the Dalarie dress on Instagram — my friend actually sent me the post and I was sold straight away, so I ordered it for my baby shower. Midway through unpacking, though, I realised it wasn’t just creased: there was a noticeable rip and a dark scratch-like stain about five inches long on the light fabric. Weirdly, the fabric itself is nicer than I expected — soft, hangs well — which made the damage feel all the more daft. I mean, I was surprised that it looked so good in the photos and then turned up like that.
    I contacted customer support and felt like they didn’t fully take ownership. The initial response was “please send it back,” which was unhelpful given I need the dress next week. They did offer a partial refund, but only 20% — not nearly enough to cover professional cleaning and a seamstress, and that felt off since the fault was on dispatch, not mine. On the bright side, delivery was quick and the packaging was neat, and the cut of the dress actually fits nicely on me when you ignore the flaw. So there’s potential — if they sorted quality checks better and offered a fairer solution, I’d be much happier. For now I’m trying to get it repaired because I do like it, but the whole experience was a mix of pleasant surprises and frustrating customer service.

    the dress lives in rotation for work and casual evenings, the knit has been great for quick school runs, and they’ve survived a few washes without falling apart.
    So, not perfect, and I’d warn you to document returns carefully, but the product itself does what I needed. That quiet moment at the party told me more than the emails ever did — the clothes fit into my life, which in the end is what mattered. I’d buy again, but with a bit more caution around returns and customer follow-up.

    Returned dress looked tampered with

    I unpacked the parcel and it immediately felt wrong. The outfit had been shoved into a plain postal bag and rolled up. The chiffon top and skirt were pale pink, very light. Both had large tags still attached, perfectly flat and uncreased. They weren't bent, not at all. The top just sat oddly when I took it out, like it had never been worn. It smelled faintly of the factory. Not horrible, just that new‑from‑production smell. I actually tried a different dress earlier that day, so I hadn't worn these pieces. They were untouched when I put them back in the bag to send back. Yet the company say the items were marked and therefore non‑returnable. How am I supposed to prove that? Unless I film every parcel opening, which is absurd, there is no way.
    I asked questions. Lots of them. The replies were short and defensive. Mainly that their staff are trained. No detail. No evidence. No photos of the alleged marking. Just the same line over and over. I pointed out the tags, the condition of the fabric, how the top lay on a flat surface — small things that show something wasn't done to them under clothing — but I got no proper answers.
    This isn't about the price. The pieces weren't expensive and I can afford them. It's principle. If you buy in good faith, follow the returns rules, and the company then claims damage and refuses a refund, that's a problem. It feels like an attempt to avoid returns rather than a genuine customer issue. The customer service approach made it worse. I have had better experiences with other retailers who at least provide evidence or explain properly. That comparison makes this stand out as poor.
    Would I buy again? Not likely. The clothes themselves were fine in hand, light and soft, but the way the return was handled and the lack of transparent communication put me off. I'll spend my money elsewhere, with firms that are straightforward and stop wasting my time.

    Oh wow, I absolutely loved the dress I bought, it was so beautiful! I wore it to my aunt's wedding and everyone said I looked like a princess in it! The dress was exactly like the photo, it fitted perfectly and was made of really nice material. I actually ordered two sizes just to be safe, but I ended up missing the return date.     The delivery experience I had with my black bodycon dress was a total nightmare. Auspost just sent it back without even giving me a heads up, it left me really angry.
