    Useless tracking, sadly

    Not impressed — the tracking was useless, so that's my verdict. They only sent a tracking link today but the parcel was dropped off two days ago while we were out, no knock, no message. It had been expected earlier and I’d been chasing, yet their system still said arriving tomorrow. A bit annoyed, I’ve had better elsewhere.

    Solid pick, small niggles

    Stood in the small Derby branch, clutching my old cracked screen — I needed something reliable after the battery started dying mid-commute. The two guys behind the counter were straight-up, gave frank advice and showed options without rushing me. New phone feels solid in the hand, screen’s sharp and battery lasts longer, though camera colours are a touch warm. Delivery was quick, bought Friday, here Tuesday.

    Halfway test turned winner

    Halfway through a noisy commute I opened the new 14-inch MacBook Pro and tested it — keyboard felt nice, screen sharp, fan whisper-quiet and battery lasted the day.     Mate's tip and a solid delivery

    Bit worried at first

    Two-minute rescue in Hull

    I started using the iPad while we were on shore on a week-long cruise. At first it worked fine, then when we came back my wife's iPad showed headlines updating but no internet connection. I tried the usual tricks — shut down, reset, the lot — as a 67-year-old I fumbled with stuff and nothing changed. Found KRCS on the iPad, booked an appointment that afternoon. They are in Hull city centre. Staff were calm and friendly. The manager spent about two minutes poking around, said an Apple update didn't get on with our extra security app. He removed it and connected straight away. Service was fast and honest. Bit annoyed that Apple didn't warn about the conflict, but really glad KRCS were there. They wouldn't take payment, which was odd, so I told a few people about them. All in all relieved and grateful.

    Unexpectedly smooth swap

    I wasn't holding my breath when I ordered — thought it'd be a standard wait-and-worry situation — but the package turned up the next morning, really within 24 hours. I started using the Mac Studio straight away for work that afternoon; first impression was that it booted fast, the screen and sound were fine, and honestly I was relieved more than anything. The ordering page could've been a bit clearer, I fumbled a couple of times, but emails and a tracking number kept me informed so that helped. What surprised me most was that they actually had the higher-spec model in stock when Apple didn't, and Henry on customer service was proper helpful — arranged the swap and extra payment if I returned the base unit that day. Bit of a rush to get to the head office, but it all worked out. Mild gripes on the website and price — not the absolute cheapest — but delivery and the human side of things made the difference. Happy it went well and I'll use them again.

    Unexpectedly pleasant outcome

    I almost made a dash for the door when I picked up my phone and spotted faint marks on the screen, but I'm really glad I waited. I brought the phone in for a battery swap and only meant to be in and out. It was ready sooner than I expected and the handover was tidy. The staff were surprisingly friendly and explained what they'd done. I started using it the same evening and the battery life is much better — proper relief. They also took time to check the screen and gave me options without any fuss. Small hiccup at the start, but they sorted it. Feels like decent value and I left relieved and thankful. Would go back if I need another fix, without hesitation.

He laughed at our phone, made a sarcastic joke about my wife’s Apple Watch and generally came over as dismissive and a bit ageist — which, honestly, is not a great vibe when you’re trying to buy something. When we asked what the ‘e’ meant on one model he mumbled something like “easy” and then admitted he’d just said it to be funny. Twice he brushed off our questions and then told us Apple were about to launch a new model in a couple of weeks and that a 16 would take three weeks to arrive. Felt like a sales excuse to get rid of us. We didn’t buy there — went straight to John Lewis next door and they were miles better, helpful and actually had stock. I’ve had mixed experiences with shops before, but this one stood out for the wrong reasons. Slightly skeptical at first, but glad we left and found decent service elsewhere.

    Early surprise delivery

    years ago I took my late 2015 iMac to KRCS to swap the 1TB drive for a bigger SSD, so I knew them. More recently the old machine was outgrowing itself (couldn’t run the latest macOS or Windows 11) and after a messy few weeks — including an order I had to cancel because of an unexpected medical thing — I ended up ordering a new 24" M4 2TB. Communication was fine overall, I dealt first with Henry, then with Sam when Henry was away; both polite, straightforward and not pushy. The refund process when I cancelled was handled without drama, which was a relief at that point. I will say the quoted 3–4 week wait was a bit of a bother — you plan around it — but then DHL turned up early with a young woman carrying a huge brown box and honestly that brightened the whole experience. Setting up two Macs at once has been a bit of a faff (I’m not the quickest with transfers these days), so there was stress, small hiccups and a few calls back to KRCS for clarification. Each time they were helpful and calm, which mattered more than a slick sales pitch. The price felt fair, and there was a small discount which I appreciated. All told, delivery and customer service were the standout parts; ordering and timing could be smoothed a touch, but I’d recommend them.

    Fed up with the delivery, pleasantly surprised by the phone

    the screen feels buttery when scrolling, camera picks up decent detail even in low light — more than I expected, actually — and the battery will easily get me through a long day of emails and calls, which was a nice surprise. It's not perfect, there's a little heft to it and I keep checking the settings, but overall it sits nicely in the hand and performs smoothly for my day-to-day. Customer support were helpful and responded quickly while I was chasing the courier, and they even offered an extra year of warranty which I appreciated. So, courier experience was poor, organisation around delivery needs work, but the product and support mostly redeemed the situation. A mixed bag, mild irritation at first but ultimately usable and satisfying.

    iPad Pro email recovery

    So, my iPad Pro recently updated itself to 15.1, and all of a sudden, I couldn't access any of my received emails. Feeling frustrated, I decided to take my iPad to the nearest store, which happened to be in Derby, and that's where I met Nathan Gray. Let me tell you, this guy really knows his stuff. He quickly figured out the issue and wasted no time in carrying out a factory recovery. Before I knew it, I was back in business and all my emails were there, ready for me to read.
