    Modern and clean property

    I stayed at a lovely, modern property recently with a great location. The beds were comfy, the floors had underfloor heating, and the bathroom was really nice. Checking in and out was easy and stress-free. Overall, all the essentials for a short stay were provided, and I would definitely recommend this place to others.

    Booking cancellation and rebooking

    Just the other day, we had our holiday home booking cancelled because it wasn't available. So, we had to deal with getting our deposit refunded and then hunting for a new place to stay. It was quite a headache, but thankfully, I got it all sorted with the assistance of an agent.

    Unexpected cancellation of booked holiday

    I had a really unfortunate experience with my booking online, it got redirected to a different platform. I paid a deposit for a villa in Tuscany back in February, but in April they cancelled my booking because the accommodation was no longer available. The other options they gave me weren't great, and trying to get my deposit refunded has been a slow and uncertain process. It's been really disappointing and frustrating.

    First booking experience

    This was actually my first time booking a holiday rental through this platform, and I have to say I was really impressed with the whole experience. The website was so easy to use, making it a breeze to find all the important information about the properties. I really liked how transparent the property owners were about setting out all the requirements for renters, it made things very clear about what to expect during the stay. The only downside for me was that they required bookings to be from Saturday to Saturday, which isn't ideal for me as I try to avoid travelling on weekends because of the heavier traffic. However, the property was of such exceptional quality and the service provided was top-notch, that I decided to make an exception this time.

    I had a pretty good experience booking on this platform. But, I've noticed that the property I booked is still being advertised by the company and also on sites like Airbnb. I double-checked on other platforms, and they said the property is still up for booking. My stay isn't until the summer, so I'm a bit concerned about how this is all going to pan out.

    Holiday apartment Tenerife

    What have made me to write this comment? The worst ever experience with holiday operator – BELVILLA. No holiday/leisure company has ever treated in the way BELVILLA did.
    I am frequent traveller, spending 4-5 months a year working remotely from abroad. This time I have chosen Tenerife for my remote office. I have planned to spend 1.5 month over there, moving around the island. I have booked a really nice, spacious apartment with 2 floors with Airbnb. As they offered an early booking discount, the price was quite reasonable. The host – BELVILLA – confirmed my booking and sent me a voucher for my 2 weeks stay. It was 3 September.
    10 days later I have received a message on whatsup from the BELVILLA contact person (in line with the data on voucher) that my booking is not valid. The double booking was an alleged reason. No apologize, no solution. I have asked for conclusion. They said they will propose me alternatives. In fact the alternatives, they proposed, were not a reasonable proposals – totally different locations or single room!
    I have asked BELVILLA for serious and reasonable proposal from their side. I have not received any. Afterwards BELVILLA totally ignored me not replying on airbnb, messages or even despite promising me contact on review site – trustpilot.com.
    As a result I have lost time, energy and money as I have to book different place with much higher price as it was closer to start of my journey. Additionally not much choice of places to stay was left.
    Be cautious with BELVILLA. They offers look superb while booking. Later on comes the real (brutal) reality.

    Villa Rental

    We found a lot of MICE in the French property and tried to complain. I have tried to follow this up with Belvilla via telephone, emails and chatbot but no-one has ever replied to any of my enquiries in 5 months. I have spoken to operatives in Romania, Serbia and Colombia but never to anyone in Netherlands or UK. All promised to investigate and reply. All I have is records I have kept and sopies of some of the chatbots.

    Holiday Accommodation

    Please think twice before booking accommodation via Belvilla. If you do decide to go ahead please be prepared for:
    -Your accommodation being cancelled by Belvilla 10 days before the holiday start date.
    -Difficulty with connecting to Customer Service (when you dial Belvilla, you get given options, one being Customer Service. Sometimes the line will connect, sometimes you will be cut off and sometimes you will be connected and join someone else's conversation!)
    -When you do manage to talk to someone at Customer Service, you soon realise the person has no authority to make decisions of any kind, and they, for some strange reason, cannot share their team leader's name or contact details with you, and also can't put you though to talk to them.
    -The Customer Care department, who by the way, you as the customer can't contact directly (Ironic I know!) also have zero authority to make any decisions. And again their Team leader's name can't be shared with you so that you can escalate your concerns if you feel the response had been unsatisfactory.
    -an experience that leaves you as the customer feeling massively let down by a big company that had no empathy with the situation they had created, and offered no real solution to make things right.
    -Being treated like you are just a number, not a person, and tough if your holiday does not go as planned.
    -As I was told a few times by Customer Service on the phone: ' Sorry we are a big company and so there is no-one I can put you through to'. They are so big their customers don't matter anymore.

    I have left a formal complaint with Belvilla, and I very much welcome someone from Belvilla to give me a call to discuss my situation and what can be done to prevent other families from going through the stress and worry that I have, in dealing with Belvilla.

    I am awaiting a refund. Belvilla has proven to me they can't be trusted with holiday bookings, and time will tell whether I should have trusted them with my money..

    Apartment in Sicily

    I wanted to post a positive review as I'm seeing so many negative posts here. Back in February my friends and I reserved an apartment in Sicily in the hope that by the time of the reservation we would be able to travel. Sadly that was not the case, so we cancelled. Belvilla was in touch immediately to confirm that they would be refunding our money and that it might take several weeks. We have now been fully reimbursed as promised - no fuss, no hassle. I'm looking forward to rebooking soon.

    Two reservations in Austria

    Trying to get a 600 Euro refund for two bookings paid in full that needed to be canceled due to COVID back in April 2020, still no refund now in June 2021. Have not been able to get a person on the phone and all emails responses are automated. They insist that the only way would be sending an IBAN but where I live they do not use IBANs, they refuse to just send a check or paypal or wire or refund the credit card. do not trust them, bad service.

    Belvilla is ignoring cancellations that are made in time. They still took out further moneys from the credit card. When you try to reach them by email only generic responses are sent back and their phone lines are always occupied. Good luck with your bookings made with Belvilla.

    house in the country for two weeks

    There are a lot of houses to choose from, so that's good. The reservation process is also very easy and accommodating.

    The house itself was bigger than expected, but not as clean... A little dusty but not too bad though.

    Would book here again.

    I have waited for weeks for a reply. I have been told this company has taken my deposit as we were unable to travel due to COVID 19. I have not ben given the opportunity to move the booking. Appalling service, still challenging 4 weeks later on Facebook, NOT GOOD

    I would not recommend Belvilla to my worst enemy. Having booked a house in France last November for 22nd August 2020 and paid fully in July I subsequently had to cancel due to the FCO advice about having to self isolate on our return. I explained to Belvilla by email on several occasions that if we had gone our insurance would have been invalidated and 2 of our family could not self-isolate because of jobs. I was eventually told that the FCO's advise was just that and as it was only advise we could still have gone to France and therefore we will not get any refund or voucher. I waited weeks for a reply to the many emails I sent . Also the lady who owns the house in France tells me she will not be renting it through Belvilla again because of the appalling service she has had from them. I will be writing to BBC Watchdog about this dreadful company. Please don't book through this company.

    We booked through Airbnb and had to chance due to Covid travel restrictions and they would not refund our deposit of £890... they have basically robbed us!!
    Never use this company!!!

    Would not recommend. We want to change our holiday dates as we are currently not allowed to travel to belgium (corona rules). Unable to find phone number for Belvilla. They are not flexibe or understanding.
